I was 12 at the time; I'm 26 now. The date at which it became half my life was, I believe, October 11, 2020.

Just short of my 19th birthday towards the end of my freshman year of college.  I think I lurked for one night a couple years before, mostly just reading the timelines in the What-Ifs section.

Also, with some of my early posts, I'm really surprised that I wasn't accused of being a troll/sock (only making 16 posts over my first 2 months on the forum might have spared me from accusations).

A Republican filibuster-proof supermajority in the Senate seems entirely reasonable for 2018.  Let's say that a moderate GOP momentum results in a 0 net in 2016 (Kirk losing, but Reid also losing) and elects President Walker or Bush (or insert your Republican here).  Then, it is crazy that Democrats won in ND, MT, WV, MO, and IN in 2012 to begin with, and those 5 get the GOP to 59.  WI, MN, PA, MI, VA, FL, and OH then are all possibilities.  The GOP, if it could hold on in NV, would only need 1 of those 7 to get to 60.  If the GOP has two big waves in 2016 and 2018 and has Kirk win and a Republican win in CO in '16, the GOP could get as high as 68, more than enough for a veto-proof majority, which wouldn't matter with a Republican president.

In the unlikely event of a Cooper retirement, TN-5 could become somewhat interesting.  It's an interesting district demographically in that it is mostly Nashville (a big city, but not quite as crazy liberal as other big cities) but has some pockets of suburbs.  It is rated D+5 and has one of the last blue dogs in right now.  If he happens to retire in a Republican wave year, I would think that there would be a chance of that seat flipping.

The Republicans should have significant enough majorities that I don't really see the 2020 census changing anything.  Plus, even without gerrymandering, the Democratic vote is more concentrated than the Republican vote, so the GOP should have some natural edge in the House.  I would honestly be surprised if the Democrats take back the House in the next 20 years.

Here's a question:

It's July of 2019, and the Republicans enjoy a 255-seat House majority, 64 seats in the Senate, and the Presidency.  Would they consider some bills like the Federal Life at Conception Act, which would overturn Roe v. Wade?  If it got even bigger (maybe with 70 Senate seats), would they try a Constitutional amendment?
