No. Cultural appropriation has existed literally as long as culture has existed, and it's mostly a good thing. When it's done disrespectfully and cringey, that is unfortunate and I'm not a big fan of that. Free country though.

Yes, when people who are properly functional members of society appropriate Online phrases and terminology it is extremely offensive and demeaning.

as a white male American, my culture either doesn't exist, or it is just generic American culture.  Neither of which can be appropriated in a negative way.

Unless you're talkin' my "punk" culture, in which case, no, I'm not offended when non-punks wear what they think is a punk uniform or act in ways they think are punk.

Unless you're talkin' my "libertarian" culture, in which case, no, I'm very happy when people adopt that culture, its why gay marriage is legal and people know what civil asset forfeiture is.

I voted yes accidentally because I read "mock it". Idk I'm tired.

Anyway, as a Jew I'll just say that it's complicated but generally if someone uses Jewish values, phrases etc in a positive and not mocking way- they're absolutely welcome to it.

Yes, if anyone claims they post on a secular elections blog and it's not TE (formerly Dave Leip's Atlas forum), I become enraged.

Now excuse me while I go back to wearing my Tiki shirt and listen to some Afro-Caribbean beats.
