This sets a bad precedent of passing laws to help a specific candidate, if it's a good idea then it should go through the normal process.

If no Representative objects by 3:45 pm Pacific tomorrow the 72 hour requirement will be waived.

I don't see much of a reason to have such a long window to return as long as deregistering and then registering doesn't provide any advantage which it doesn't seem to, as it doesn't allow you to skip the region cooldown or anything. I guess deregistering right before an election you are on the ballot for could screw with things? But that could happen under the current policy too.

Deregistering a week before the election isn’t even legal.

The reason for cooldowns is to keep the game more stable. There should be consequences for ragequitting.

Also Scott is not a registered citizen so not sure why this is in a civilian slot.

Object
I can support this bill but to specifically do it for one candidate is bad, especially suspending the rules for that candidate.

Scott's case aside, what's the rationale for cutting this period so drastically? Just curious.

Up until fairly recently it was a much shorter period. I'm not quite sure if it was 72 hours but it was a week at most.

It’s been two weeks ever since 2019 apparently even if for the longest time I thought it was one week.
