Voted Other in the poll (as an Independent) but Bernie by far, followed by Gravel, Gabbard, and Williamson.

I think that it’s become increasingly clear since the election and since Biden’s term began that he was the most progressive choice in the primary, in that he was the candidate who was going to be most able to pass a progressive agenda, for the following reasons:

1. Electability: Considering how little margin for error there ended up being in the Electoral College, I think it quite possible that Biden was the only candidate who could have won the general election.

2. Getting a trifecta: Control of Congress went down to the wire, and the issues which hurt Democrats most in congressional races were “socialism” and wokeness, which only would have been amplified were Bernie or Warren the nominee. In fact, I could even see Dems losing the House had they been nominated. It goes without saying that very little of substance would have been able to be passed without a trifecta.

3. Messaging: Biden has governed well to the left of how he campaigned, and due to his more moderate image he can more easily pass progressive legislation with less blowback than Bernie or Warren could have.

Biden

He was also my pick in 2016 till he decided not to run. Then I had to settle with Sanders.

With Hindsight: Biden. Of all that ran and had a serious shot at the nomination, only Sanders had a slight chance at beating Trump, and given how close the election was with Biden, a Sanders victory over Trump would've been an honest to god nail biter, and might've seen even more chaos from the Trump people than there was in the aftermath of a Biden victory. The rest would've lost with Bloomberg or Pete faring the worst.

Without Hindsight: I started off backing Warren, then shifted to Sanders, and then finally went to Biden a week before I cast my vote in the Illinois Primary after seeing the results of the primaries, and I'm glad I did.

I was basically with Biden after Harris dropped and I'm sticking with that.

Your username literally used to be "Michael Bloomberg" stop acting like you never supported him. Sure, he's name has been tarnished thanks to the worst debate performance in history, but he's still a great guy.

He was never my #1 choice for 2020 even if I approve of him, so, um, yeah. Also, the fact that you remember a display name from 2017/18 proves you're a sock.

Cheers!

Aight then. Welcome to the forum. In that case, you'll remember my spring 2019 signature was "Biden or Harris 2020."

EDIT: Also, I remember your username being "Michael Bloomberg" until 2019 at least.

I went to the search function, searched up Bloomberg under user "Blairite" and found this:

1. Bloomberg

2. Klobuchar
3. Biden
4. Buttigeig

5. Warren

6. Steyer
7. Sanders

8. Gabbard

I understand lying, the debate made any association with him toxic, but man he doesn't deserve that. He's really a good man.

Huh. I genuinely forgot about that. Must have been that handful of weeks before South Carolina where I was confused and sad and looking for security. 'Twas a weird time.

Also, interestingly enough, you seem to have Klobuchar above Biden, further disproving the notion that you were with Biden once Harris dropped out. You need a better memory  Smile

Ah, I'm just messing with you. It's easy to forget little details of your life.

Sanders>Biden>Warren>Klobuchar>Buttigieg>Bloomberg

I'm fine with Biden but of course I have to pick Bernie Sanders. I've become a lot more skeptical of how Warren would do. Nothing against her just I think having the beltway campaign style (same with Buttigieg) isn't a great mark in her favor for how she would actually do in office. Biden's had way more of a People's President style and I like that a lot. But I could never pass up the opportunity for President Bernie Sanders.

Well, I'm registered D (this is NYC after all), and my choices were Bernie, Warren, Biden, Yang in that order. I didnt really like the rest of the field, though my ranking would have been Harris, Klobuchar, Buttigieg, Bloomberg.

The above is with foresight, but I dont think my rankings change any with hindsight. My opinion of Yang has gone down a bit though still above 'the rest', and maybe Biden moves above Warren'.

1. Harris
2. Biden
3. Warren
4. Klobuchar
5. Sanders
6. Gillibrand

Ended up voting for Biden in the primary, although it really didn't matter by then.

Warren would’ve been the best president ever of anyone running. Like said above, she could have been  the most influential president for decades to come.

I was a Warren supporter and I still think she would have been excellent, but this Biden presidency is off to such a strong shot that if I could go back in time and re-do history I would still have Biden win. I suspect he will join the 2nd tier of great presidents (TJ, TR, Truman, Ike).
