Suburban Texan (seemingly DFW area?), mid-40s middle class white male, mainline protestant, voted for Bob Dole and may have voted for George W. Bush (though became disillusioned with him after shaking his hand), has expressed admiration for Lyndon Johnson, generally conservative in outlook but highly values honesty and morality.

Reluctant Trump voter?

Never Trumper?

Trump-Biden voter?

What do you think?

Honestly I think he would have passed away by now from his high-meat diet, sedentary job, high temper and health problems like the urethra if he was a real person.

Anyway probably Romney/Johnson/Jorgenson.

Hank wouldn't even vote for Bush because he had a weak handshake, he would hate Trump and never vote for him. Probably would have backed Kasich in the primaries, not vote in 2016, and vote for Biden in 2020.

Honestly I think he would have passed away by now from his high-meat diet, sedentary job, high temper and health problems like the urethra if he was a real person.

Anyway probably Romney/Johnson/Jorgenson.
He'd only be 67, probably not yet. His father lived to be 71 with an even more unhealthy lifestyle and his mother was 69 when the show ended.

Speaking of his father, Cotton definitely would have voted for Trump if still alive, I think that’s safe to say LOL

I'm no 'King of the Hill' expert. I like the show, but I have only ever seen a couple episodes here and there. But people who are crazy about the show seem to suggest that he would have been a reluctant Trump voter in 2016 but switched to Biden in 2020. He's a conservative but one with actual values who would be disgusted at the party's turn to believing in nothing nothing but grievance, spite, and victim-hood. Perhaps he is even the the ultimate example of a Trump-Biden/Lincoln Project voter.

Here's a Cracked article that makes a very compelling case:

Hank cares about principles, integrity, honor, keeping your word, decency, etc., so he'd absolutely vote for Biden in 2020. Before that, though, he probably voted for Johnson in 2016 after having been turned off by Hillary's email scandal.

2020: Biden
2016: Trump (never Hillary)
2012: Romney (find upstanding man)
2008: Mccain (war hero)
2004: W (whupped Saddams ass)
2000: W (a real Texan, unlike dad)
1996: Dole (they both wear some form of adult underwear)
1992: Bush (the Texan of course)
1988: Bush
1984: Reagan (easily)
1980: Reagan (despite being Hollywood)
1976: Ford (good at football)
1972: Nixon (no hippies)
1968: Nixon
1964: LBJ (come on, his dog was ladybird)
1960: Nixon

Bonus:
Dale Gribbel: never registered (the only thing he ever signed was his HOA)

Peggy would be interesting to do

The first election Hank- born September 1954- would be eligible for would have been 1972 due to the ratification of the twenty-sixth amendment in 1971.

1972: Nixon
1976: Ford
1980: Reagan
1984: Reagan
1988: Bush
1992: Bush
1996: Dole
2000: Bush
2004: Apparently didn't like Bush's handshake, so Kerry maybe
2008: McCain
2012: Obama, actually, I think he'd see Romney as an unprincipled flip-flopper
2016: Write-in Kasich
2020: Biden

Dale might not be registered to vote, but he would definitely be a Trump supporter and QAnon believer. Wouldn’t even take much to turn his hat into a MAGA hat!

As for Peggy, I think I agree with the people who say that Hank would have gone third party/write-in in 2016, but Peggy would have voted for Hillary I think. In fact she’d probably be a full-blown enthusiastic Democrat by now.

They actually kinda remind me of an aunt and uncle of mine. Uncle was a straight Republican voter most of his life, wrote in Kasich in 2016, voted Biden in 2020 and now is registered Democrat. Aunt had also been a Republican voter but jumped fully on the anti-Trump train quicker and voted for Hillary, posted a lot of #Resist stuff on Facebook over the last four years.

Either he wouldn't vote at all or he'd spoil his ballot, probably. Peggy would have gone Democrat in 2016 and 2020. Dale might have voted Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012 and he pretty much perfectly falls into the basket of 1st time Trump voters.

The real question is how Boomhauer voted

Assuming the year 2000 was the "present" for King of the Hill and Bobby Hill was born in 1988, what would his voting record be? Could see him being a straight ticket Democratic voter, maybe voting for the Greens or Libertarians in 2016.

Apparently he was born in 1985 in the pilot (12 years old in 1997), so if not for the show's floating timeline, his first election would have been 2004. Regardless, I doubt he understands what's going on and gravitates toward the most talked-about candidates (Obama, Sanders, Trump, Kanye, etc.).

A more interesting question is if Hank would have voted for Beto over Ted Cruz in the 2018 Texas Senate race. Peggy definitely would have.

Dale wouldn't be a MAGA guy. He'd simultaneously believe in both QAnon but also that Trump is a Russian agent trying to take down America

Doubt it. The thing about both Dale and the QAnon people is that they ignore much more plausible conspiracies or simply obvious realities (like the fact that his wife is cheating on him with John Redcorn) in favor of much more elaborate and absurd conspiracies in which they read hidden meanings where there is none. He’d buy fully into the idea that “Russiagate” is a hoax by the deep state intended to turn people against Trump like most conspiracy theorists have. He’d also be an anti-masker “Plandemic” believer and I could see him storming the Capitol, as anti-government as he is. He was a perfect capture of the MAGA QAnon conspiracy theorist before it existed, honestly. The character was ahead of his time.

Either a blank ballot or a very reluctant Biden vote.

I think Peggy would be more R than others around here seem to think, though she might have voted for Ds every now and then (including against Trump).

As far as which characters vote D, I would rank them as follows:

Connie
John Redcorn
Luanne when the candidate is sexy like Obama
Bobby (though I can see him growing up into a R)
------------ only occasionally D below here
Peggy
Bill
Minh
Nancy

I see Boomhauer (Texas Ranger), Kanh (low taxes), Hank, and Cotton (Trumpist) as solid R.

As far as Dale goes, Qanon is a government infiltrated group aimed at producing a database of people in preparation for disarming them and selling their children to aliens living in Roswell.

I went over this a few months ago on Discord and came to the conclusion that just about every character (except Luanne and John Redcorn) would've voted Bush 04 but the only reliable Trump 20 voters are Bill and Buck Strickland, and that that says a ton about why Bush won TX by 23 while Trump won it by 6.

Dale is a habitual non-voter (being on the voting rolls gives THEM a way to track you), but 2020 Dale is probably a major QAnon influencee or even Q himself.

I think Peggy would turn into a huge resistance pink hat type (and I just loled at the thought of Peggy Hill in a pussy hat) and Hank would be a reluctant Biden voter. Dale would be into Qanon while Bill would probably spend all his time on Incel forums.

How would the Great Recession have affected the cast? It started right after the show was cancelled.
