Group 2 people aren't wrong in aggregate. No one party holds all the answers on every issue, after all.

In what sense are the centrist high information ones irritating? They may have less of a point in America, I suppose.

Generally, the "high-information" ones. The low-information types are using "both sides" to signal disengagement and disinterest, which isn't great, but understandable. They have not made the first step in understanding a political issue.

The "high-information" types who equate centrism to nuance (or decide that they must triangulate upon observing nuance) are more frustrating. They have made the first step, and decided that's the entire journey.

Not all "both sides" centrists are like this, but it seems quite common amongst the galaxy-brained.

To be a "high-information" bothsidesist is to have all of the evidence in the world that you need to have convictions but refuse the calling.

Any kind of characterization coming from a place of ignorance is significantly more annoying than one coming from a place of understanding

Write in: hyperpartisans who think a person saying "both sides" invalidates their argument, like its some kind of Yu-Gi-Oh trap card.

What's wrong with number 2? That's what our country needs.

Because both sides do not have a point.

There are usually more than two sides to an issue, but sometimes there is only one.  However, being able to see all/most of the valid/sound sides of an issue does not mean not being able to come down in favor of one of them.

what?  Yes they do.  (at least most of the time)  Certainly all the "important" current issues have good points on both sides.  Being blind to the other sides point is what causes people to say dumb things like "Somalia is a libertarian paradise" pr "Democrats hate American values" or "conservatives want poor people to starve".

The GOP has absolutely nothing good to offer the world.

The best thing about both American political parties is that they prevent the other party from enacting what would almost certainly be an economically and socially destructive agenda.

I'm not saying that both sides are the same, or even that the Republicans in Congress right now specifically are acting in good faith, but things aren't as black-and-white as you make them sound.

The Republicans give a voice to tens of millions of people in this country who have Conservative beliefs and may oppose Biden's agenda, and that's OK.

In fact, it's good that we have diversity of opinions and some kind of opposition in this country. It's much preferable to living in a one-party state.
