Is the era of Reaganism, Walkerism, right to work Ryanism over?

Trump got a lot of support from union households.....

Will unions endorse the GOP now if they are the party of the worker?

No, this is unlikely to happen. Granted unionized voters aren't as solidly Democratic as they once were, this misses three things:

1. Unionized workers =/= union leadership

2. Unionized workers are still more likely to vote D than the general population. I don't know if there is data on 2020, but for all the talk about Trump's blue-collar vote in 2016, exit polling shows Hillary actually won the vote of unionized workers pretty decisively

3. Unionized workers in today's America aren't predominantly hard hats and factory workers. These areas have actually seen significant reductions in unionization rates in recent decades, which tracks nicely with these types of voters moving away from the Democratic Party. Healthcare workers, teachers, government workers make up a larger share of union workers, and you don't need me to tell you which party those occupations prefer.

Union leadership will back whichever party will support their interests more. #Populist rhetoric is one thing, but when you're the party of right-to-work laws and generally less interested in things like workplace regulations, union leaders will see no benefit in endorsing you.

Union workers, like I said are diverse and still more likely to vote D, as they did in the 2016 election, which was between the Democratic candidate that appealed least to the working class, and the Republican who appealed the most to the working class, in modern American history.

I think Biden has done some good stuff so far re-unions. He has also been extremely pro-union and even openly endorsed Amazon Unionization effort. I can see Union voters trending left if Biden decides to run for re-election and economy is in atleast ok position. If the Dem nominee is anyone other than Biden, then I wouldn't be confident of Union voters trending left

No, this is ridiculous. Republicans are still the party of right to work. Aside from protectionism the "populist" wing of the GOP isn't really ideologically that different from how the party has been since Reagan. Unions aren't dumb, they know this and given that a majority of union members are non-white and we now have possibly the most labor friendly president since Truman I don't think the GOP can expect to do any better with the union vote then they did in 2016.

Depends on who the GOP candidate in 2024 is and whether they return in some measure to the policies that would alienate these voters. As for the actual official endorsements that is much less likely.

A Tucker/Hawley type could definitely win over unions.

Considering that union leadership is not always the same as unions, and unions have been on their decline in areas trending Republican, I highly doubt it.

Let's be real here and clarify that the union support trending Republican is very likely male union support. White guys working in male-dominated fields that require not-too-much education. To put it differently, other trends are spilling over and affecting how people who are coincidentally union members vote.

I highly doubt teachers and nurses are significantly trending Republican.

It will take a bit more time.  If the next GOP president is popular, I expect they will get meaningful labor endorsements in their reelection campaign.

What on earth does "win over unions" mean?  Forgetting for a moment that union workers are actually becoming LESS White (IIRC), it has already been correctly mentioned that Union leadership (i.e., those who control endorsements) are still MUCH more Democratic than their voters.

Union leadership does tend to be much more left wing and woke than their membership, so we will continue to see trends of union workers moving g more Republican while unions themselves continue to endorse Democrats and fund their campaigns.

If Republican-controlled state legislatures, with Republican-held governorships, eliminate right to work laws in applicable states, it will be possible.

There is another thread asking about which states may have trends for which one feels uncertain. Well, lacking certainty and confidence is where the Republican Party is heading in terms of its leaders and its direction for how it will operate. Continue with the same people—Mitch McConnell and Liz Cheney (to name two)—and they will go nowhere worthwhile.
