Some thoughts:

CA: Berkeley
CO: Boulder
IL: Evanston
IA: Iowa City
KS: Lawrence
MD: Takoma Park
MA: Cambridge
MI: Ann Arbor
NJ: Princeton
NY: Williamsburg in Brooklyn
OR: Portland
TX: Austin
VT: Brattleboro
VA: Arlington
WA: Seattle
WI: Madison

How accurate is this? And what would it be for other states?

Williamsburg contains quite a lot of *extremely* Trump precincts in South Williamsburg (some over 90% Trump) so that won't the answer for New York. The answer for New York is probably something like the West Village in Manhattan or Prospect Heights in Brooklyn.

I think my vote would go to Bushwick.

How about Astoria?

Up there for sure. Speaking from experience as a left-wing NYC artist-type in my 20s, the neighborhoods where a huge concentration of people in my cohort currently tend to live are Washington Heights/Inwood, Astoria, and the stretch of Brooklyn from Bushwick/Ridgewood to Flatbush around the Bedford/Nostrand area. Most have been priced out of Williamsburg for several years, which is why I would argue against it, in addition to the Hasidic enclave swinging the neighborhood right.

Feel like some part of Hoboken or Jersey City (maybe even Asbury Park or New Brunswick even) would be more woke than Princeton. It's liberal, but outside of university students (who are kinda divorced from life in town), it's mostly just upscale families in professional industries and not that many young people. They're typical suburban liberals but it doesn't really have the same OG woke energy you'd see in Brooklyn or Berkeley. I feel like you need a mass population of millennials for that.

Missouri: Columbia for sure
Utah: Hard to say. Pretty much anywhere east of State Street and north of I-80 in Salt Lake City could probably work. I have never seen so many political signs in my life as I did driving on 1500 East in SLC in October 2020. It was wall-to-wall Biden signs on almost every house, along with lots of other liberal signs (BLM, "in this house we believe..." and so on).

Not a state, but for singapore it would be probably be the Yale-Nus Campus. It's the only place where you get any cocentration of idelogical left-wingers. We do have 2 mp's pronouns on their twitter handle but one of them runs mainly on left-wing economics while the other appeles to a disenchanted(and socialy conservative) muslism demographics due to strong cultural links.(despite being a huge fan of angela davis).

For Ohio definitely Oberlin, with the Short North in Columbus not far behind. Also an honorable mention to Gambier and Yellow Springs.

Georgia is either Athens or Little Five Points/Edgewood area.

MS - Starkville and it's not even close, given the pro-LGBT stance of the government. Also had a big BLM parade last year.

Gainesville and Tallahassee are almost certainly the "woke"-est places in Florida, because those are deep-blue cities which have significant and large state universities (UF and FSU respectively).

Outside of those it gets a little tricky. Maybe some rich, upscale, deep blue places on the Gold Coast such as Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach, and Boca Raton could be classified as "woke".

Parkland in Northern Broward County deserves a mention, too. That city is the place where the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School occurred, and that shooting sparked a very large activist group with well-known names such as David Hogg. IDK how big they were but they did that March to Your Lives thing and went to Tallahassee supposedly, so I assume they had a lot of support. It is a very white, educated, rich city so I think it also fits the demographic description of a "woke" city.

Also, there probably is a place in Orlando that's kind of "woke" as well but I wouldn't know about it.

Obviously Boulder is the wokest place in Colorado (and arguably the country at this point) but I would like to give honorable mentions to some of the rich liberal ski towns in the mountains. I’m talking Aspen, Crested Butte, Vail etc. those also are woke.

So maybe like the most hipster or most liberal place in a state? Alright, lemme try for all 50.

Alabama - Huntsville (IF I HAD TO CHOOSE)
Alaska - Juneau
Arizona - Tucson
Arkansas - Fayetteville
California - Literally the ENTIRE San Francisco Bay Area
Colorado - Boulder
Connecticut - New Haven
Delaware - Newark
Florida - Three way tie between Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Orlando
Georgia - Atlanta
Hawaii - Honolulu
Idaho - Moscow
Illinois - Chicago
Indiana - West Lafayette
Iowa - Iowa City
Kansas - Lawrence
Kentucky - Louisville
Louisiana - New Orleans
Maine - Portland
Maryland - Baltimore
Massachusetts - Boston
Michigan - Ann Arbor
Minnesota - Minneapolis
Mississippi - Starkville
Missouri - Either Columbia or St. Louis
Montana - Bozeman
Nebraska - Omaha
Nevada - Reno
New Hampshire - Hanover
New Jersey - Jersey City
New Mexico - Santa Fe
New York - New York City
North Carolina - Two way tie between Asheville and the entire Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area
North Dakota - Fargo
Ohio - Columbus
Oklahoma - Stillwater (though it's tough to choose)
Oregon - Portland
Pennsylvania - Philadelphia
Rhode Island - Newport
South Carolina - Charleston
South Dakota - Sioux Falls
Tennessee - Nashville
Texas - Austin
Utah - Park City
Vermont - The whole state (jk it's Burlington or maybe Montpelier)
Virginia - Two way tie between Charlottesville and Arlington
Washington - Seattle
West Virginia - Morgantown
Wisconsin - Madison
Wyoming - Jackson

I think I tried my best? Let me know if you disagree or you're offended by one of the cities I mentioned.

GA could arguably be the strip of terrain that includes parts of Midtown, Little Five Points, Edgewood, Druid Hills & North Decatur. Around 80k people in all. This is at least if you're basing it on simple [average of white % & D %].

But if you want to balance this along with actual woke beliefs and attitudes (rather than assuming wealthy educated types voting D means they're progressive in general), then you'd want to take a look at the 40,000 or so people living in Athens (stretching from UGA to Whitehall).

I also think that people are making a mistake in conflating "wokeness" with white Democratic voting percentage. Non-white people can be woke too!

Atlanta in particular strikes me as a case where a big percentage of the Black community would be into "woke" rhetoric.

Sorry for abusing the term woke, which I don't really care for--what I'm trying to get at is the specific phenomenon of "heavily online influenced social justice oriented rhetoric." Not sure of a better term for it--I think analyzing it as a style of rhetoric is usually more useful than describing it as woke, which implies things about its content.

I actually think Somerville is woker than Cambridge these days, incidentally, mostly because the sorts of ancestrally middle-class but downwardly mobile young people who are most heavily involved in the DSA and similar groups have by and large been priced out of Cambridge proper. I believe Somerville was the only Boston-area Massie municipality in the 2018 gubernatorial primary.

Maryland: suburban Silver Springs/Rockville

I think Silver Spring and Rockville are a little too classically upscale and corporate-dominated for quasi-urban centers to be all that woke. Within the DC metro, Takoma Park is probably the best example, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Ironically, Rockville's only cultural depiction of note represents it as a forbidding Rust Belt remnant, when that's quite far from the truth:

It's less so than its surroundings, but it's still Montgomery County.

Louisiana - New Orleans

to expand on that, i would say it's the Bywater/Marigny neighborhood which borders the French Quarter... the places there have the most "hipster" energy in our area.

the older hipsters move to the Holy Cross area of the Lower 9th Ward, and some have moved to Arabi in St. Bernard Parish as Marigny and Bywater prices have increased
