Pfizer. I got my first dose last week. Overall, I like the efficacy numbers of the two mRNA vaccines, so I would have been happy with Moderna too, if that's what had been given to me.

Still unvaccinated (and likely will remain unvaccinated until like October or something), but it'll likely be AZ when I'm eligible.

How the f**k is America getting vaccinations so right? Does the fact that most of the big producers are American help here?

I think that's probably part of it. The other part is because we just threw a lot of money at it last year. We invested billions into virtually all of the major players in vaccine production and bought up enough vaccine to cover the US population a few times over. My understanding is that the we also cut a lot of red tape and bureaucracy, including freedom from liability. It may have been the one thing the Trump Administration did right. I'm quite certain though that they would have massively faltered in rolling it out, as they didn't prepare for that. That's something the Biden Administration has excelled at. Vaccines are being distributed from the federal government. It's working with the states, local governments, and private business partnerships (primarily pharmacies) to distribute and administer vaccines. Even I'm amazed at how well this rollout is working so far.

The UK system is different from the US, but I think they basically followed the same path in investing in and procuring vaccines early on. Their strategy is a bit different, but one that has so far appeared to be quite successful.

What the hell-- most people are vaccinated already? This is a young crowd. They only opened up availability for my state on March 29 and I didn't manage to get an appointment before now. How are people getting it so fast?

The poll isn't representative of the entire forum.  There's undoubtedly a selection bias such that people who have been vaccinated are more likely to respond than those who haven't.

To answer the question: I've had Pfizer #1.  Second shot is scheduled for this Friday.

Question for those who have gotten the second Pfizer shot: Did you get any side effects after the second shot? I got my first today, and the only thing I've had is a sore shoulder, but I was talking with one of my coworkers and she said she was gonna request off cause she heard the side effects were worse after the second shot. I know it's gonna differ person to person, but can anyone confirm or deny that?

I did the same as your coworker but I ended up having basically no side effects from the second dose. The first one was worse for me.

First dose of Moderna today. Guy asked while I was there (through health center at work) they said they got Pfizer in the beginning but now it’s just all Moderna that they’re getting.

The day I got my second Pfizer shot I felt great besides a sore arm I went to work and then hung out with a few of my coworkers after the next morning I woke up with a killer headache nausea and a 102-degree fever and had to take work off and my muscles felt absolutely lethargic like it hurt to just walk around the house. The day after though all the side effects were gone and I felt fine. All my coworkers who got Pfizer went through the same thing after their second shot along with my family. I know a few people who didn't have to take the day off tho but most people I know who got Pfizer did. The day you get the shot you feel nothing but the moring after you really feel it.

Had a slight reaction to the first dose of the vaccine last night. Then again I had it so it has been somewhat common due to already having the immune response. Felt fine until bed but started to get a headache, got the chills so I covered up in a warm room with a warm comforter and fell asleep. Woke up at midnight feeling as hot as hades. Took a fan, chugging water and ibuprofen and an hour and a half to get back to sleep. All better the next day though.
