In the 2020 census South L.A/Compton/Inglewood has seen more African Americans leave and hispanics move in good but not fast numbers do you know what the future for those areas once depicted in movies such as Menace II society, Training Day as dangerous?

Merriam-Webster:

suburb, noun
sub·urb | \ ˈsə-ˌbərb \
Definition of suburb

1a: an outlying part of a city or town
b: a smaller community adjacent to or within commuting distance of a city
c: suburbs plural : the residential area on the outskirts of a city or large town

2. suburbs plural : the near vicinity : ENVIRONS

We don't live in the year 1993, the Gateway Cities and South LA have been regular old suburbs for a while now, and yes, they are overwhelmingly Hispanic suburbs. See the rest of LA for what that looks like.

In fact, you can't even draw a plurality-Black district in south LA any more, or honestly probably the whole of CA at this point.

Beyond the demographic transition that everyone else has already noted, a lot of people see South LA as the next gentrification frontier in LA with the new stadium developments in Inglewood and the Crenshaw Line, and if/when the northern extension gets going that’ll be another game-changer in the area. There’s been a lot of angst about this – when the state housing bills were coming up over the past few years, the arguments in South LA were pretty fierce.

It was also the South Bronx when the Old Yankee Stadium was getting demolished and the New Yankee Stadium getting built as well.
