As of Monday every member of my immediate family has received at least one dose of the vaccine. My middle brother got it Monday.

My youngest brother still wouldn't be eligible in Minnesota (where he's still located) but has received two doses already because he works as an HVAC tech at a tribal casino...thus qualifying him to receive it from the tribe which manages their own distribution.

I wonder if Our Dear Friend got his vaccine from a tribe since he is 1/32nd American Indian

Funny, at least considering how BRTD is one of the whitest individuals I have ever witnessed.

You apparently don't speak Grumps-ese.  "Our Dear Friend" is this distinguished individual:

I still don't qualify in IL. I can't get a first shot until the last half of Apr at the earliest, which is when they open it up to all adults.

That sucks, I think it's completely fair to vaccinate people in their 40s, 50s, and early 60s (generally) before young adults and teenagers. Ideally it should be 65+, 40-65, and everyone 39 and below, or at least some variation of that.

Unfortunately for muon, much of the "former elected official" demographic in Illinois is in federal prison, and thus are the vaccination responsibility of the federal government. It looks like that's led to an oversight by the state government in vaccinating those who aren't behind bars.

I pre-registered, but given I am part of the 'general public', and still relatively young and healthy, it will likely be some months before I get at least my first vaccine.

No plans to get the vaccine.  I tested positive for antibodies in May 2020 and again in November 2020.  My live-in boyfriend had COVID in January and I never managed to get sick, so I'm thinking I'm pretty set on the natural immunity front.

About half the people I have known to get the vaccine have had what I would describe as adverse reactions, feeling pretty sick/feverish for the 1-2 days afterward.  Given my age and lack of complicating comorbidities, that seems just as bad as actually contracting symptomatic COVID so getting the vaccine is a pretty low priority for me.

Had a pretty bad fever this morning but I'm not doing so bad right now. Hopefully I've made it through the worst of it.

Seeing all the rich people here getting their vaccines just legitimizes my fear that there is a mass conspiracy to vaccinate all the rich and work from home people first.

I can not work from home and still not eligible for a vaccine.

Though, I guess since my main goal is to reduce and hospitalizations to near zero levels for Covid-19 I should be happy that VA is prioritizing the elderly.

If the UK’s vaccine rollout stays on track, I should hopefully be offered my first shot by the end of July. As I’ve already mentioned, I’m a bit perplexed as to how so many young Americans on Atlas have already got the vaccine; in fact, considering that the US’s percentage vaccinated is lower than the UK’s, it leaves me a bit worried that older Americans are missing out.

Yes, it hasn't exactly been rolled out in a fair manner. I'm getting sick of hearing of all the healthy 20 year olds who already got their second shot.

A ton of older Americans are skeptical of the vaccine and refusing to make appointments. Particularly Trump voters and people in poor African American areas who are rightfully weary of the medical community from years of bias in the field. They can only give the vaccine to people who want to get appointments.

Aren't American health autorities calling old people instead and telling them stuff like "hey there is an appointment free for next week, do you want it?"
