Bro country is a music genre that originated in the early 2010s and is characterized by repetitive themes and influence from other genres. Some acts associated with the name include Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt.

Absolutely atrocious. I thought mainstream country radio in the 00s could be fun, but it got so bad once bro country became the norm.

Have you heard any actual emo? (and no My Chemical Romance, et al do not count.)

I don't like bro country. I like female country singers like Sheryl Crow, Jennifer Nettles, and Sarah Buxton.

I much prefer country from the 2000s and earlier when it was more country.

The thing that honestly annoys me about country from 2010 and on is how forced it seems. They use these ridiculous over-the-top accents that nobody actually uses along with just trying to fit in as many country buzzwords into their music.

Bro country specifically is boring because it’s all about the exact same thing. Hot girl gets in my truck, we drive around, go to a party, leave, drive around some more, end of song. Probably include some bit about drinking beer while sitting on the tailgate.

For the rest of 2010s country, most of it could play on a pop station and nobody would be able to tell it wasn’t pop.

At least we still have Brad Paisley.

Obviously HP.

Country music, like all genres of music, has never been immune to sh[inks]y overproduction when there's enough $$$$ to be made.  All genres of pop music are essentially marketed as soundtracks to whatever brand of materialism you happen to identify with; "bro-country" just gets an especially bad wrap from Atlas because our community doesn't understand the leisure appeal of big trucks, deer hunting, trips to the Redneck Riveria, or chugging cheap beer.

At least we still have Chris Stapleton.

Not really what I listen to most of the time but I'd be lying if I said I don't have a couple of Sam Hunt or Justin Moore songs on my Spotify.

Garbage. Glad I snapped out of that phase when I realized how repetitive and uncreative the themes and lyrics are. 80's-90's country I can mostly tolerate, but nothing made before* or after that, really.

*with the exception of Johnny Cash

Sounds like someone could use some Jimmie Rodgers in his life.

I have a negative reaction to country music of all varieties but this "bro" variety which seems to increasingly be the dominant mainstream form of it, is by far the worst!

The worst

Nashville periodically convinces itself that people who turn on a country station (more than probably any other genre, the labels control what gets airtime in country and internet has been a bit slower about breaking that down) don't want to hear country music, so they ape what's going on in pop. Tje bro country wave was the latest itteration.

It's garbage and that 'Body Like a Backroad' (gag) tenchically holds so many records is a travesty.

Townes too. Maybe even Patsy Cline, especially when covered by non-Nashville Sound artists.
