Harding was a lot like Bush and Grant. A hands off guy that trusted his friends and associates to do the right thing and let them get away with all sorts of corruption and criminal behavior as a result. Harding's death meant that most of this did not become public until after he was gone.

You could say there are some similarities there but there are closer parallels.

Technically he didn't pardon Debs. He only commuted his sentence. But even that is still better than anything the Trump administration did.

He also really didn't have ambition to be President either, IIRC. He was plucked as a compromise candidate.

Harding was a better President than Trump.

Harding may have been a weak President, but he did not order an insurrection on the capitol and attack the very  institutions that represent American democracy.

Trump will go down in history as the worst President in the history of the United States.
