The 2020 election was probably the closest we ever got to an absolute tie. If Trump won Georgia, Arizona, and Wisconsin it would have happened.

Would there have been faithless electors? Would Trump have still challenged the results?

Trump wins in the House. The following protests that ensue make 2000 and 2016 look like child's play but it doesn't get bad enough to where a January 6th IRL situation happens.

Trump wins in the House. The Senate (probably) elects Harris (although a breakdown of the Senate result in the event of a tied electoral college would be interesting) as Vice President.
