Ok heres the bronze medal match so which one would you guys say was the larger win .

Ill say 1974 cause by a slight margin as Republicans did fail to take both houses in 2010 and blew many senate races

In terms of literal Net gains, 2010. as the GOP gained more seats in the House (64 compared to 49 for the Democrats in 1974) the Senate (6 compared to 4 for the 74 Democrats) and the Governorships (6 for the GOP compared to 4 for the 74 Democrats). In terms of overall impact, I would say 1974 as the Democratic party was really reshaped after that election, whereas in many respects 2010 was a last gasp for Reagan/Bush type movement Conservative Republicans, although some figures that would become prominent during and Post Trump made headway that year. I'd also argue that 1974 was more impressive as the Democrats were able to make such large gains despite already having solid majorities prior to that election.

So my vote on balance goes to 1974.

This is a really close one, but I'm gonna go with 2010. dw93 gave a good overview of the differences. I think for me the slightly bigger gains, the fact that Republicans flipped the House (and held it for the next eight years), and the (imo) somewhat bigger impacts on policy, very slightly outweigh the massive amount of total seats won by Democrats. However, it's possible I could be swayed by a deeper dive into state/local elections.

1974 because Democrats had nearly 300 seats in the house and 60+ Senate seat
