So I decided to toy with the new precinct splitting tool in DRA and thought of something novel. I decided upon a sort of Canadian provincial riding style map thing for North Dakota, with 125 members, both for the fun of it and to test out what that feature was like in regards to extensive use.
It took me about 3 hours of work to complete. Today I screenshotted and have made a image portraying it.

Deviation is in a 10% band, in line with US state legislative case law. Effort was made to hew to county lines and have compact districts alongside this.

Can you post the DRA link? I'm curious about the partisan breakdown. I have done a 50 seat map of ND at one point just for fun.

Whoa I did not know that DRA allows precinct splits now. Awesome!

I'm in district 69, which just barely voted for Cramer according to this. About what I would expect. Erin Oban (D) represents a more Republican district now so I'd assume she'd win easily in this one.

I have, it is in the post. Directly above the line mentioning deviation.

I love the double donut hole around Dickinson. LOL.

It makes sense though. There's no real taboo about donuts in North Dakota anyway (for some towns it's the only way to draw things that makes sense), the current State Legislature map already has Dickinson (as well as Jamestown) as a donut hole anyway.
