Valls is calling for a Catalan Mario Draghi two sentences after dismissing the entire Catalan nationalist movement as unable to govern, and saying ERC cannot be left-wing because it is seperatist. He is a total cuck.

Someone calling for a "Catalan Mario Draghi" either doesn't understand Catalan politics or doesn't understand Italian politics. Or both.

I at least commend Valls for not being so dumb as to say that by "Catalan Mario Draghi" he means himself. Of course, that's almost certainly what he was insunating, but he didn't make himself look quite as stupid.

I've been wondering about something kind of related to this. Spain seems to have a system where right does better with middle and upper class even though it's based on the old-fashioned principle of "God, King and Country". Is there a significant disconnect between voters and party elites or is your typical Madileño suburbanite as reactionary as they seem? If so, is it just on the issue of national unity/Catalonia, or does it extend to "social issues"?

Worth noting "Wall Street Wolverine " is a 'patriot' youtuber who fled to Andorra, in order to avoid paying taxes in Spain. Even Ayuso's tax haven is too much for him, apparently.  Recently "Wall Street Wolverine" became the laughingstock in Twitter, when he asked for the construction of a helipad in the nearby Seu D'Urgell, so he could go from Andorra to Madrid and visit his friends. Some people noted that "Wall Street Wolverine" was discovering why paying taxes is neccessary.

But this issue is more serious than it appears. Last weekend  I heard to someone who teaches high school students that youngsters trust these people. They watch the YouTube channels and hear all kinds of nonsense and barbarism without filter, because many people don't read books and don't get information from reliable sources

The issue of political 'influencers' must be addressed

If the whole world depends on today's youth, I can't see the world lasting another hundred years.
— Socrates, approximately 400 BC

Seriously though, I really hate this kind of thinking. People weren't more informed about politics in the good old days just because they got all of their information from maybe a dozen Respectable™ national newspapers, two RTVE channels and the occasional politically-themed book. Like it or not, YouTube and social media are an important way of spreading political messages today - the most important way for people under a certain age. The solution isn't grumbling about how kids are idiots and we're all doomed, it's adapting to a new environment. As annoying and #problematic as the American (Anglophone?) BreadTube is at times, the thing is, it works. It spreads its message to a wide audience, raises awareness of issues and converts some people on the way, just like any at least semi-competent political current should.

Though actually I was told a story by a friend who knew someone who spent some time in rural Andalusia for his anthropology doctorate. Apparently in the village where he was staying there were two bars which people went to.
One was the socialist bar; the other was the communist bar. (And of course they hated each other!)

Malta and her Labor and Nationalist, um, mobile networks say hi.

Holding on!

(I presume the reason they went for PorA rather than Adelante is that it's a very "old left"/PCE kind of place, and PCE/IU/Podemos are in PorA)

Why did Murcia shift so hard to the right anyway? PSOE used to be pretty strong there — they had a majority throughout the 80s and ruled until 1995.

you are just acting the moderate hero on the issue but the evidence is there that the Spanish judiciary is biased against Catalan nationalists...

I really hope that's the case.

Thank you for making such a convincing case for Catalan separatism.

The separatist parties could further see their support eroded in this way...

OT: if Sanchez managed to cling on, I could foresee a way of Trudeau hanging on after next Canadian election, on the condition of CPC getting less than 170 seats. Negotiations between LPC, NDP and BQ is theoretically easier than that between PSOE and ERC/Junts.

If this is set as precedent, the only way of CPC winning government in next election is them getting an absolute majority of seats.

That is true, but why would BQ do it? It’s not like the main point of Poilievre’s platform is digging up the corpse of Jacques Parizeau and putting him on trial for treason.
