New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat who promised this issue in 2017 when he ran for governor, signed marijuana legalization into state law......

Quote
More than three years after he took office with hopes of legalizing marijuana in 100 days, Gov. Phil Murphy signed three bills that together launch a marijuana industry in New Jersey and put an end to thousands of arrests.

Republicans objected strenuously to the bill and New Jersey’s powerful Policemen’s Benevolent Association called it “anti-police”. Meanwhile, some of the state’s leading Black lawmakers, including Legislative Black Caucus Chair Ron Rice and Sen. Nia Gill (both D-Essex), said the legislation didn’t go far enough to hold law enforcement to account.

Marijuana should be legal, but driving under the influence should be absolutely penalized to the fullest extent of the law. Especially when it's kids.

Yes, they are bastards in the system, but you still need them to handle violent crime. They don't need to be making stupid drug arrests...

My opinion is there should be no such thing as violent crime, because the concept of crime shouldn't exist, thus eliminating the need for cops.

I will expand on my earlier statement: there very well could be something wrong with part of this bill.  I don't know.  But what I do know is that this is another example of police unions freaking out over any change to their authority.  However bad the bill is, I'm fairly sure it isn't going to destroy their jobs.

I don't understand police is upset about this? Such a change in law should actually relieve them from going after drug offenses and have more time and ressources to focus on other things.

This is part of the reason for why cops are unpopular.

That's a ridiculous take, and I'm saying that as someone who skews anti-police.
