Three prominent Democratic field organizers have started a $3 million organization that aims to give the Democratic nominee in 2008 a comprehensive road map to victory in a dozen battleground states, according to the Washington Post.
The "Atlas Project" is comprised of former Kerry campaign senior adviser Michael Whouley and the two heads of America Coming Together, a liberal advocacy group. The project will begin by analyzing data from battleground states in the past two presidential elections, and then will interview elected officials and party activists there. Finally, they will conduct extensive polling and targeting operations in key areas.
The end result will be memos detailing what they've learned and advice for crafting political messages that reach small constituencies in the swing states.
