No chance. If David Perdue's angry walk through the field wasn't enough... Just picture this guy on a debate stage with Warnock.

The fact that this man is only 63 blows my mind. He's over a decade younger than Mitt Romney.

According to football player Herschel Walker, there should be a total ban on abortion, with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the health of the mother; "I've seen some people, they've had some tough times, but I always said, 'No matter what, tough times make tough people.'"

Yes, just tough out that that ectopic pregnancy, women of Georgia. It will build character!

Disgusting... and what's absolutely horrifying is that this isn't too far off from becoming the mainstream position on abortion in the Republican Party.

A life for a life.

This guy wants to be a US Senator? Good lord.

I can see why McConnell desperately didn't want him to run lol.

He may very well win this November, but I have a hard time seeing him win reelection in six years, especially since Georgia is trending Democrat faster than the speed of light. He'd certainly be DOA in a Dem midterm.

Is this guy really that dumb?

All of those concussions from his football career have really fried his brain.

I know we often like to dismiss the impact these kinds of stories can have on elections, especially in this age of polarization, but in a race that is going to be as close as this one, this type of story could seriously harm Walker's chances.

Walker is such a trash, awful candidate.   It's going to be horrible if he wins.   Warnock isn't perfect either but Walker is a whole different level of terrible.

Well, the good news is if he does win, there's a nonzero percent chance he's forced to resign during his term because of a major scandal. There's also the fact that he's probably DOA for reelection in 2028.

Warnock has been smart in not letting himself get dragged into this. Let Christian do the talking, just keep looking like a good peanut priest guy for the optics.

He threatened to sue the Daily Beast lol.

Walker was a strong candidate from the onset, but these recent revelations damaged him pretty badly. He could still definitely win though. Sports star to Politics has been pretty successful for a lot of people, mainly coaches though, Osborne and Tuberville are 2 big examples. Steve Largent, Heath Shuler, Burgess Owens, Colin Allred, and Anthony Gonzalez all too. Though I think the best comparison for Walker would be Tom Osborne since he was a super popular football coach in Nebraska.

?? No he wasn't. He was always a super risky candidate from the start.

Quick question, who on Walker's team let him walk on stage with that prop? Did he just sneak it on with out them knowing or did they green light that stunt themselves?

The amount of copium ITT from our resident D hacks/bloomers is really something to see.

Walker did not win the debate, no matter how much you try to spin it.

I'm surprised the Washington Examiner is covering this. Aren't they pretty right-wing?

I think Warnock wins by at least 3 or 4 points. It just doesn't seem like there's a lot of Republican enthusiasm for the race, largely because of Walker's unpopularity and because it won't determine control of the Senate.

The good folks at Split Ticket are back:

From the article, which is well worth reading:

Quote
We believe that while both candidates have a shot at winning this election, Raphael Warnock is the clear favorite based on the data we do have, a story reflected by both the polls and the early vote data. Our best estimate of the early vote is that Warnock leads by about 15 points right now, with a raw vote lead of around 280K. While we expect the Republicans to win big on election day, we do not think it will be enough to carry them to a win, even as we expect election day turnout to exceed 1.2M and carry the total votes cast up to roughly 3.05M votes (which would be astounding for a runoff and would be ~80% of the November total).

They also have an interactive county map at https://rpubs.com/splitticket/georgia-runoff.  For a laugh, hover over Washington County. Smiley

Damn, the model has Warnock cracking 60% in every county in the Atlanta bubble, minus Fayette. Hard to see how the state doesn't turn out to be reliably democratic by the end of the decade.

Oh, this is probably not gonna be very close (by Georgia standards). Warnock is comfortably outrunning his November numbers so far.
