The initial debate period has now commenced and the sponsor has 24 hours to commence advocacy while the other members have the subsequent 48 hours with which to respond.

This bill will address the important issue of decreasing expenses after the death of a loved one in Atlasia. Our citizens already are experiencing economic hardships related to losing employment due to COVID-19. On top of this, a death in the family compounds the already existing burden.

After quickly looking up the cost of a funeral, apparently it is somewhere around 7300$; so here is my amendment to adjust for this, amounting to a 25% reduction on the grant and the spending

Here is the amendment:

That seems reasonable, but I believe, in the best interests of our citizens to strive for the original amount. As unforeseen circumstances arise, we should ensure that our citizens have the necessary discretionary amount.

Indeed. I object to this proposed amount on those grounds.

I strongly suggest you refine eligibility to be next of kin or executor of the estate or something along those lines.

Maybe as a compromise on the dollar amount you could do a smaller base grant with an additional amount people can apply to take out as a loan, then pay back later if they’re wealthy or get forgiven if they can’t pay? Might be too complicated

There is still the elegibility concern Ted talked about

Then we should discuss preferred standards for that.

Perhaps an income threshold added to the existing criteria?

Tack is gone, but we need to get some direction on refining the concerns in the text and the same question still applies thus.
