Welp, around two years here and 10k posts later, I’ve definitely been a presence as a major Talk Elections blogger. Anyway, I might as well signal a new AMA after my one thread and one bump ages ago. Ask me anything at all about my definitely not boorish personal life, my insights on politics, and amateur 1950s—1990s history of international movements for the working class.

1. Which languages can you speak?

2. Would you vote again for Joe Biden with your current hindsight?

3. What are your (realistic) hopes for the domestic future of Iran in let's say, the short-to-medium term?

Honestly I’m just going through the motions with school and my work. Doing this weird hybrid thing with both has been manageable, just need to not fall into my procrastination episodes and stupor lows. Socially is going nowhere, but I’m at least on my feet after a long low period of confusion and utter anguish.

Most Religions creates an atmosphere of what amounts as similar to political oppression for other religious groupings or lack thereof and for anyone not a male willing to get hitched with a gal. Outside of religious hiding, the threat of ostracism and punishment still is a thing even for secular folks out of that culture. Hiding oneself leads one into self hatred, distrust and mistrust of others, and hobbles social connections. No amount of liberal deviations or PR statements from whoever will change that. And I live in the Urban North of the US, more rural and religious areas and it’s basically on par with living as a Shi’ite in Saudi Arabia right now.

1. English and very weak Farsi and Spanish

2. No, it was a mistake given that he’s done everything he can to ensure a Republican win in Congress

3. Sanctions lifted and there to be an embassy there. I think once the people see that even without sanctions things are still bad, the contradictory nature will lead to civil war sooner. Either that or at least people won’t further leave the country and be so homesick elsewhere.
