This should include social and economic issues as well. Feel free to rank them specifically in the comments. If I didn’t add a country or added one that doesn’t belong, let me know and I’ll add or reconsider the options!

If by conservative we mean, well... conservative, then I guess Japan followed by Italy and then I don’t know what.

Of this list, China is most definitely the more conservative country given its current class structures and political makeup, along with socially conservative values.

Excluding China, it’s undeniably Israel given the large Orthodox and Haredi populations along with government policy.

Outside of this list, then Qatar as its an absolute monarchy and has most residents living there without citizenship or rights, and is perhaps the most conservative Gulf State. I’m almost sure it’s considered “developed”.

Outside of the above three Japan is next, and after that I don’t believe it makes much sense listing anything else.

Saudi Arabia, arguably a developed country, was immediately the first nation that came to my mind; few others come close. For the rest, I'd say Japan, USA, Israel, China and Italy.

Probably 5 third world nations that no one knows much about. Saudi Arabia is definitely a contender, and I guess the other middle eastern petromonarchies would be very strong contenders.

But no European nation would qualify and neither would any country in the Americas. The 5 contenders would all come from Africa or certain parts of Asia.

I was specifically asking about the 1st world countries, I’m not really saying compare them to the third world, I’m saying compare them and decide out of those countries that I have listed, which ones are the most conservative.

Saudi Arabia, Poland, and South Korea are easily the top three.  The next two are a bit harder.  Maybe Japan and Israel?

Anyway, why so many votes for Japan, but so few for South Korea?

Japan, Switzerland, South Korea, Greece, and "Italy/the Vatican" are the most conservative in the true sense. Most of the others are either turboliberal or violently reactionary, sometimes both.

San Marino is actually quite radical in its own way - certainly more left than its other micronation buddies. Replace it with Monaco!

It depends on issue.  On social issues, Saudi Arabia by a landslide, on economic, probably US while for cultural maybe Poland.  For least conservative that would be Canada.

Of course San Marino is more left, but Monaco has too much of that "overcrammed urban neighbourhood full of luxury condos and skyscrapers with too many cosmopolitan jet set people around" feel for me to put it up there.
