Sad news, surprising number of deaths so early into congress. It's a swing district that just barley voted for trump. will be interesting to see if there's a Biden midterm effect/capitol hill insurrection.

LOL at people saying this is a Lean R or possible pick-up for dems, zero chance.

R+8 in 2018 and R+9 in 2020, the narrative it was 51-48 for Trump doesn't mean anything, there was too much ticket-splitting in Texas.

Safe R, but I hope Dems spend burn some money!
lol, ask congresswoman Karen Handel about how little the presidential vote share matters in rapidly trending seats like this. I remembered how much republican gloated about the money democrats blew in the Georgia 6th special election, Ossoff is now the states senator while Karen Handel has deleted her social media and disappeared from public life.

Wow... people do realize that Trump was in the White House in 2017 and now he isn't but a Democrat is, right?
Do people realize that midterms aren't magical spells that brainwash people into voting one way. If you voted for Biden, nothing about the past few months would move you towards the GOP or make you less politically engaged.

Trump is so weird in the fashion he rewards loyalty? Like one minor infraction and you're out but be loyal long enough and he'll endorse you over the dead congressman's widow? bizarre.

anyways, this seat is almost certain to be a good test of local politics versus Trump in the post presidency era since local politicos have all lined up behind Wright. Very good litmus.

Certainly going to add another woman to the GOP's historically female caucus though.
That's still in question.

Not really. Seems almost certain that the GOP choices will be Wright and Pierson. Can't imagine anyone else putting up much of a fight given the resources these two will have.
It's not a safe-r seat, dems might win it.

Black south Dallas is spilling into Ellis

ellis county could be in the mid to high 50s% only for the gop within 20 years

Yeah, I didn't realize Ellis swung left that much. Republicans will still start out as favored in the special, but they could definitely lose this seat if they don't play their cards right.

Katrina Pierson is the kind of candidate who could very well lose this seat for Republicans. Republicans would be well advised to go with Susan Wright as their nominee.

In fact, it appears that Pierson isn't running for Congress after all. This is good for Republican prospects in the district.

Sounds like she’s running for another seat. Maybe against Allred?
Isn't he likley to get a sink?
