Higher propensity base is a myth!

It's over. November 8, 2022 is when America dies.

Isn't the dem base in this district Hispanic and AA voters? Those are low propensity voters.

Still a bad sign for Nov 2022, but I wouldn't get too concerned yet if I were dems

Oh yeah, Dems have a perpetual problem with off cycle elections in the SW...see the Texas senate 19 special election in 2018, all the HD specials the same year, and to a lesser extent CA-25. Having a coalition dependent on Hispanics is hard to maintain off-cycle. But I get the feeling people are overreacting as usual to early results, but in what way is presently up in the air.

Eww, RRH.

@Forumlurker and EastOfEden, relax. It's a low turnout special where Democrats barely invested.

Imagine if TrendsAreUsuallyReal was still on here lol.

His last post I think was Texas is going blue . I’d made a bet with him to that if Trump overperforms Cruz , he has to post that OSR was right and trends aren’t always real

He was so damn obnoxious about Texas going blue (at all levels).

Navarro has released some results, top five are now;
Susan Wright(R) - 7,110 - 15.73%
Jake Ellzey(R) - 7,100 - 15.71%
Jana Lynne Sanchez(D) - 6,332 - 14.01%
Brian Harrison(R) - 5,788 - 12.81%
Shawn Lassiter(D) - 3,906 - 8.64%
Sanchez got pushed down a tad, that R lockout still remains a possibility

Also even during the peak of Democratic overperformances in special elections in 2018 Democrats still did worse than Clinton in Texas special elections.

What a terrible state party. Maybe Dems really are the party of fraud. No idea how Beto's result would be possible otherwise. We'll never outvote the retirees. 90-year-old Boomers in 2044 dragging themselves into the voting booth and we all know who they're voting for. Forever.  The party of evil will win and destroy all. I'm literally looking at how to emigrate, again.

Congressional special elections have never been good indicators of midterm elections. If they meant anything at all Democrats would not have regained the House in 2018. There is no point dooming over this result.

Oh gosh I wish that were true. I wish we didn’t have to care about the same precincts which vote consistently for commies and instead could actually focus on the real America. The subsidy sucking leeches don’t represent the flag, it’s the hard working citizens of American cities who represent this country.

One factor that hasn't been mentioned is that there's been a ton of COVID induced interstate migration. I wouldn't be surprised if Texas and Florida swing Republican on basically every level from California and New York Republicans fleeing by the thousands.

It's bad for Democrats in terms of congressional and electoral math but it doesn't necessarily indicate any kind of broader nationwide trend.

Yeah, as much as I want these preliminary results (which could in theory turn around since we cannot be 100% sure who voted early and who voted election day) to herald a GOP sweep in 2022, I do not think it has those implications at all.

BTW, why is the count so slow?   There has been nothing for a while now.

Legit question, how will ED vote come out? How do we not know it will just be relatively even between Rs and Ds?

People are assuming that the trends from the Nov. 2020 election are holding to this special, which I find a bit hard to swallow. Especially with the hubbub about voter ID for absentee/early ballots.
