Not sure how much newspaper endorsements matter, but the Dallas Morning News endorsed Republican Michael Wood: https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/we-recommend/2021/04/04/our-recommendation-for-us-house-district-6/

A young never-Trumper winning this special election would probably cause an even bigger beltway media pundit circus than a Democrat winning.

Except he's not. He's a Trump 2020 voter, and his message is "Trump had his time, he has only hurt us since November 3, its time to move on." He's also a rather lockstep conservative on the culture war issues, such as the border.

I wonder who Madison Cawthorn will endorse in the primary, if he endorses a candidate.

I doubt he will, it’d be as effective and relevant as Manchin endorsing Murkowski

I just looked at all the candidate's websites and issues pages and pretty much all the D's are running in line with each other besides Hinterlong whose running a very moderate campaign. my 3 favorite D's runnings are Sanchez Bean And Lassiter. If I lived In the district id vote for Sanchez tbh as she's the highest polling candidate and it's important to avoid a R v R runoff in a potential flip. Sanchez is running a very progressive campaign being the only candidate to back a $15 minimum wage she also highlights on her website that she's moderate on gun control but supports background checks and a few other restrictions pretty much like how I do. These results will be interesting and with how many candidates are on the ballot anythings possible though I expect a Wright vs Sanchez runoff.

If Cawthorn endorses a candidate, I think he endorses Dan Rodimer.

Why would that particularly matter, both for the race and for you to post three times about it?

It doesn't matter, but I know what Cawthorn is like.

Big Dan is the only true Texan in the race and the only candidate to have ever received a Trump endorsement. It's unthinkable for Cawthorn to endorse anyone else; that's like endorsing Nancy Pelosi

I've just arrived in this thread and the first question I have is: Has Madison Cawthorn issued an endorsement yet????  God, I can't wait!

No, Cawthorn hasn't yet issued an endorsement. Trump endorses Susan Wright. I have a feeling that Cawthorn will disagree with Trump on this one.

45.000 people have voted early (in-person + mail) until yesterday.

This points to a total turnout of 150k on Saturday.

Much higher than in Louisiana, but much lower than in a midterm.

But that's in North Carolina, not TX-06.

Please keep us all updated on this crucial and highly relevant endorsement.  Could be a total game changer!

What percentage of Texans actually fall for this cornball crap? I did see the video where Gov. Abbott celebrated March Madness by saying Texas is #1 in everything, so clearly he believes many of them do. But there must be plenty of normal, not ridiculous Republicans there.

Also, does the bull riding thing really help? Most of the district's voters live in Tarrant.

Didn’t know that TX has (special) elections on a Saturday too, like LA ...
Texas has uniform election dates when local governments are required to hold elections. There used to four during the year, February, May, September, and November. Only the November election was on a Tuesday, imposed by the Northern hegemons.

The others were on Saturday, as were the primaries and primary runoff. Voters could come to town for shopping and also vote. Texas requires that special elections be held on the next uniform election date, unless it is contested as an emergency.

When the primaries were moved to March they messed up and moved them to Tuesday.

AP Piece about how Cheney Meijer and especially Kinzinger are going very hard campaigning for Wood.
Wood got a big endorsement with the newspaper but all the polling shows him at 0-1% it'll be interesting if he overperforms but I see him getting 5-7% at most tbh a Wright vs Sanchez runoff looks almost certain.

The anti-Trump wing in the R party is very small.

Wood will get 5% or so.

He’s seen as a traitor in the party.
