After 2016 I got really upset realizing I've only been to three Hillary states as an adult: Minnesota, Illinois and Colorado. Seriously of all the places I've been. It was so depressing.

Well I thought it would be better...but the list is now just those three plus Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia. Well actually Nebraska's 2nd district too.

But still, that's a pretty paltry number of all the places I've been to. Ugh!

Meanwhile in 2009 I was really excited that I could drive to Dude Fest in Indianapolis without leaving an Obama state no matter which route I took. Actually I'm pretty sure the only Obama state I ever visited during his first term was North Dakota.

I'm the opposite to you; the only Trump state I've seriously spent time in is FL.

Literally all the states I "regularly" go to in non-COVID years are like all the liberal beacons in the country.

States I've spent the most time in in order:

NY
NJ
CA
MA
WA
DC (Not a state but you know)
OR
-----
After that pretty much every other place I've been has been a one-off sort of thing

What's funny too is I actually go to some very conservative pockets of these states.

Eat your heart out that you do not live in the center of the universe of Biden states.

I guess the only Biden states I've never set foot in are Hawaii, Oregon, and Rhode Island.  Though in a few of the states I'm counting as having visited, it was just an airport layover, or just driving through and stopping for gas.

The last time I visited a Trump state was when I was in Fargo, ND in January 2015 (before Trump ever actually ran for president).  Though for part of the time in the intervening years I was living in Australia, so not really doing much in the way of visiting *any* US states.

I haven’t been to a Biden state since 2019.  I was in Pipestone, MN at the end of that year, which is an extremely Trumpy county.

I haven't been to a Biden state since last February. Of course, I haven't been to a Trump state since last February either.

Speaking of home, I am pretty sure I haven't been to a region with a centre-left governor since last June when I made a random trip to Emilia-Romagna (Parma precisely). Ah, in 2019/2020 I used to go to a centre-left region almost every day... but now my university lessons are all online because of COVID.

I've haven't been to a Biden state in 51 weeks, though I've been living in Biden's best area of a Trump state for 11 months.

Since when do you live in Gadsden County?

I haven't been to a Trump 2020 state since late 2018, though I did pass through Pennsylvania in summer 2019.

Actually I don't believe I've stepped out of Oregon this year, and I spent the overwhelming majority of 2020 in the state as well.

I remain amused at the self-selection of travel based on the political leanings of the route or destination. One may note that I regularly report the CD's I've traveled through (back at least to 2010), and AFAIK I haven't noted in those posts the party of the Congressperson. When I travel, I'd much rather see the country as it is on the ground and not as it plays out in Washington. I will argue with anyone that it is foolish to ascribe much about an area without actually visiting it.

The map if Biden only won the states I've been to:

Needless to say, I've spent considerably more time in the eastern US than the West, and specifically in Appalachia, the Mid-Alantic, Southeast, and (parts of) the Midwest/Rust Belt.

Still, would be enough to win (and by more than he actually did). I wonder what kind of crazy scenario could result in such a map?

Anyway, by my count the total number of Biden states there is 10 + DC vs. 11 Trump states. So actually very evenly split.

Man, some of you need to get out more.

The only difference between a Biden state and a Trump state is gas will cost you twice as much in a Biden state—which is probably why some of you never travel.

I did the map a little differently; yellow shows the places I haven't been to.  Glad to see that I've been to enough Biden states to give him an EC majority. Smiley

I haven't been to a Trump 2020 state in almost a decade, although I've been to ME-02 within the past four years, and used to I go to a Trump 2016 state (Pennsylvania) semi-frequently.

My movement has been at a virtual halt on account of Vermont's travel rules. It's effectively a ban on out-of-state travel with my wife, who works in a plant and would have to quarantine for two weeks on our return. As a member of the work-from-home petty aristocracy, work is no obstacle to going wherever I want - but what would I do there?

There's not much reason to stay overnight anywhere else within the state. We can reach almost any point within a day of driving and there's nothing do other than snowshoeing.

It's not booking a room for what passes for a night out in 2021. Besides, the last time I had a meal in Burlington they served me raw chicken and the parking garage attempted to compel me into downloading an app. That was after failing to get a table at my favorite Indian place because the building was on fire. That's not an experience that I care to repeat.

Hotels were only fun when everyone else was afraid to travel and eerily empty ski resorts were offering once-in-a-lifetime cut-rate accommodations. Many of the cheaper hotels have become semi-permanent housing for indigents. I don't use Airbnb: All of the stupid comments that edgy leftists make about landlords are categorically true of "hosts." They should be run out of town on a rail.

Anyway, all of this explains how I have only slept in eight distinct counties over the past year - only one of them during the past month! Among them the Biden-Trump split is even:

Biden 76-22 (VT)
Biden 55-42 (ME)
Biden 53-44 (VT)
Biden 51-46 (VT)
Trump 54-45 (SC)
Trump 58-39 (NY)
Trump 58-41 (FL)
Trump 61-38 (SC)

We could give the tiebreaker to Biden because one of Trump's counties falls in a Biden state.

This has made me curious about where I've slept in the last year:

CountyStateDR
El PasoTX66.831.6
FultonGA72.626.2
Santa ClaraCA72.625.2
Palm BeachFL56.043.2
LeonFL63.335.1
GreenvilleSC39.958.1
ShelbyTN64.434.0
OklahomaOK48.149.2
BernalilloNM61.036.6
MohaveAZ23.774.9

As far as states where I've been, Biden doesn't quite have enough to pull out a victory without New England:

Using ExtremeRepublican's shading method based on how long ago I've been there. I've been stuck at 50% reporting for a few years now...

Joe Biden 233, Donald Trump 124 - WA + MI + MN is the most likely path to securing a Biden 270 map
