Better hackish private polls than no polls at all, but take this with a tablespoon of salt. Thankfully, approval ratings are polled before any push questions here, so it's not too compromised.

January 29 - February 1
752 likely voters
MoE: 3.6%

Favourabilities: very + somewhat favourable/very + somewhat unfavourable + haven't heard enough to say

Cruz: +7 (49/42/9)
Biden: -1 (48/49/2)
Trump: -3 (48/51/1)
O'Rourke: -13 (33/46/21)

But imagine seeing a favorability rating of just -1 for a Democratic president in Texas 10 years ago.

That wouldn't have been insane in a less polarised time, even taking this rating at face value. I expect Obama was doing this well in TX during his honeymoon period while he was crushing it nationally.

Yeah, but the real reason TX-SEN 2018 was close is because Cruz was "historically unpopular."

It wouldn’t be that surprising, Obama had a +27 approval rating in Texas when he took office. Just goes to show how bad polarisation has become.

If we had a Castro Bro, it goes to show you that TX was winnable last yr, HEGAR had Valdez type support.

Castro's could have made it a Beto race, Ann Richards was the last female to win a Senate or Gov race in TX, due to its pro gun stance
