[SERIOUS] Should Atlas switch to Normie colors?

For consistency's sake, yes. Remember that Atlas is primarily for research/election archive purposes, so all the maps need to follow the same scheme.

For consistency's sake, yes. Remember that Atlas is primarily for research/election archive purposes, so all the maps need to follow the same scheme.

Yes, but the forum is now somewhat divorced from the rest of the Atlas, and someone who's using the Atlas solely for research purposes is probably not going to come to this forum and end up getting confused.

I suppose it doesn't matter since the new EV calculator lets you pick the colors for parties now. The traditionalist in me will be sticking with the old color scheme, though.

The only point I'll make in regards to this is that the current Atlas scheme only looks right with the classic Atlas shades of red and blue, and any different shading scheme (like the new map function) does look weird to me. So if our avatars were switching to a different shading scheme I'd have to support flipping the colors. However I see no reason to expect that to happen.

...no it wouldn't??? Like stated earlier in the thread, Talk Elections is no longer part of Leip's Atlas. Dave Leip can do whatever he wants, but personally it would make much more sense for the blog to switch, as it's now pretty much official that the Dems are blue, and vice versa for the GOP. It's not just tradition or a rule of thumb, those are the literal party colors now.

Anybody joining the forum who's initially confused by the nonstandard colors gets used to them eventually, and the rest of us have been using them for in some cases literal decades. I'd rather go nuclear and give everyone the ability to use individual avatars like Virginia's Evan Ryan simp one than switch the colors now.
