Surprisingly good for Blunt, but yes, he’s not a 'stronger' incumbent than Hawley, lol.

Apparently this is an R+14 sample, pretty different than Remington's usual R+7 sample.

I think they adjusted the party sample because their 2020 samples were not Republican enough and too favourable for democrats, their final poll in 2020 was a R+7 sample and it only had Trump beating Biden by 5% in MO, 50-45, he won the state by 15.4%.

I would be surprised if a lot of pollsters did not adjust their methodology after 2020 since the polling error in 2020 was the largest since 1980 and across many states the polling error reached catastrophic proportions, missing by high single digits.

Hawley at 46/40 and Galloway at 32/40 in the same poll.

I know predictions made two years before the election can be whack, but man, as "bad" of an incumbent Blunt is, I just don't see anyone replicating Kander's performance again. The race is, at best, Likely R.

Can I ask - does anyone know how Blunt retains such a mediocre reputation?

He seems to be a party-line GOP senator, but between his narrow win in 2016, and polling like this, he just seems to be begrudged by his state.

He has the same problem that McConnell : he is the ultimate insider/establishment politician. To give you an idea, his wife and all his children are lobbyists.

This is wave insurance but Hawley participated in the Insurrectionists, if it's a good night for Ds, we can win 51-55 seats

He also doesn't even live in Missouri. He has some million-dollar house in DC somewhere, and owns a random apartment in Springfield to maintain his residency.

I'm surprised that in a country like America things like that aren't much of an issue. Compare that to the UK: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-38847939 - this article focuses on the police probe but Nuttall was convicted in the court of public opinion (and sentenced to a distant 2nd place).
