Only if you're talking about hair metal-type bands. I can't think of a decade - not even the 60s - that produced as many good rock albums as the 80s.

I’m not gonna say they’re my favorite by any stretch, but I also don’t understand how it became so in Vogue to trash Metallica. Overall they’re a solid band in my book.

Their 80s material is fantastic, And Justice For All is one of my favorite rock albums, Black Album is solid though overplayed, Load/Reload is inconsistent but has a lot of bangers, St Anger has its charm & their music since has been good (Lulu notwithstanding). Seen them 4 times in the last decade. Last time being on the Big 4 tour.

I take it most folks are either going off their reputation, overplayed radio hits or aren't that familiar with metal and/or hard rock.

I'm not a typical metal / hard rock fan, but I'm familiar to that kind of music.

 I can't stand Metallica, sorry. It must be my fault, cause I dislike many mainstream acts with millions of fans such as U2 and Lady Gaga. Likewise Queen's music doesn't touch my heart, even though I'm able to appreciate Freddy Mercury was a gifted vocalist. Music taste is a subjective affair, plain and simple.

Metallica is far from being my favorite band, but compared to the absolute garbage that the rest of you people listen to I'd say that Minola has some of the best taste on this forum.
