He should think about how insane his gun comments were when he ran a stupid campaign for president.

Beto O'Rourke died with "Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47."

Seeing him in a video feels so weird, I feel like I haven't seen him in forever. He became so irrelevant so fast.

Pepperidge Farm remembers how he was considered a top-tier contender when he got into the race. Unfortunately for him, running in a primary against 25 other Democrats is not the same as running against the Zodiac Killer.

As he has shown during his 2018 senate run and during his presidential run, O’Rourke is too left-wing for Texas, especially his openness to abolish ICE. He answered « Hell yes! We are going to take your AR-15s, your AK-47s », which isn’t popular among gun owners. O’Rourke supported a $10 per barrel tax on oil and after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, he voted against tax relief for Hurricane Harvey victims.

And he thinks he still has the political influence/clout to win after he lost to Ted Cruz and his "hell yes" comments/failed Presidential run...why?

Not in a D wave yr where Ds are competetive in OH, with Tim Ryan all but running in Portman's seat, we are so use to Trump approvals at 40 percent and D's picks up seats, in 2018 and 2020, we have a D Prez Biden with a 52 percent approval, but having said that it's Safe R until we see polling

Only feels like 6 months ago when Beto was considered an campaign marvel with a rising future while Stacy Abrams was a laughing stock who wasted her political capital. Pretty remarkable how much things can flip on a dime.

By the way, I'm sick of hearing about the gun comment. I think it's impact has been severely overblown on here. Especially cause he's done/said dumber things (Such as taxxing churches who oppose gay marriage, his odd Vanity Fear cover story, sense of entitlement).

I still really like Beto, but him running for President was one of the worst political moves I've seen in a while. It was boneheaded even at the time.

Abbott is still relatively popular, isn't he? He should better wait to 2024 and challenge Cruz again. A presidential year seems better to win and Cruz is much more vulnerable.

This is such a dumb move, if true. Democrats are not going to flip TX-GOV in 2022. The state really is "not there yet," and even if it was, it is the kind of state where Democrats would suffer a midterm penalty for controlling the WH.

I like how the gun comment somehow killed his political career based on nothing but punditry; no polling or focus groups, just punditry.

There is no penalty if Biden is at 52 Percent approvals, Trump lost seats because he had an average of 46 approvals

BOLD PREDICTION TIME

If Beto's the nominee, Harris County could possibly be a bit more competitive than usual. Beto still wins it though but it definitely swings to the right by a few points.

Also some of y'all may not know this, but Fort Bend County actually voted for Abbott in 2018. It's certainly possible it could stay red this time, or maybe it votes to the left of Harris County.

It's incredibly depressing that Beto chose to run for President as a faux-progressive cringe candidate, desperately latching onto whatever unpopular and unelectable positions Twitter was fascinated with in order to grab a headline to hopefully revive his failing campaign. He had a real opportunity to follow Abrams or even Espy's paths after defeat and get back to work trying to build the necessary appeal and infrastructure for future elections in his state. Even Heitkamp and Donnelly did some soul searching and tried to invest in Democratic outreach to rural voters after they lost, which is a lot more helpful even if it seems futile than it is for Beto to inject nonsense into the national platform and make the Party seem more extreme than it is.

I do believe there's a place for losing candidates within the Democratic Party, especially ones that dramatically outperform the partisan lean of their states, but O'Rourke's presidential run completely destroyed his reputation and hurt the credibility of the Texas Democratic Party in the process.

Beto O'Rourke on his failed run for Senate: "I'm just born to be in it!"

Beto O'Rourke on his failed run for President: "I'm just born to be in it!"

Beto O'Rourke on his failed run for Governor: "I'm just born to be in it!"

Wish this smug rich white boy would go away.
