Say Hillary flipped the three Rust Belt states and nothing else, winning by a narrow 278-260 margin. How would the elections of 2018 and 2020 have gone? How different would the last four years have panned out under a Hillary administration?

America is roiled by protests and considerable panic, as President Tom Cotton prepares to put his GOP Senate super-majority to work.

Former-President Clinton, who was impeached unsuccessfully three times by the GOP House, retires to a house in Westchester.

House Speaker Jordan and Majority Leader McConnell announce plans to fill the three Supreme Court seats they held open for 5 years with staunch conservatives, and cut taxes to levels unseen in the past century.

All the international goodwill built up by President Clinton starts to drain away as the President turns his attention to Iran.

There wouldn't be three open spots because Kennedy wouldn't have stepped down while Hillary was in office

Anyway, the Republicans repeal Obamacare on day 1

The Republicans lined up behind Rubio similar to how the Democrats united behind Biden in our timeline.

Rubio wins and the Republicans have large majorities in the House and Senate.

President Hillary Clinton, having prevented COVID from reaching American shores, cruised to re-election and has large majorities in the House and Senate. She is currently passing major climate, health, and voting rights legislation.

Lol. It's possible Hillary would've won re-election if she'd handled Covid competently, but it definitely would've been narrowly not a landslide. The GOP would hold the House and the Senate though, the latter is practically certain.

Best case scenario for the Democrats if Hillary had won in 2016:

President: Clinton wins re-election narrowly with a map very similar to her hypothetical 2016 map.
Senate: GOP holds a large 56-44 majority in the Senate. Manchin, Brown and Tester would've gone down in 2018 whilst the GOP also held Arizona (Flake doesn't retire) and Nevada (Heller is re-elected). In 2020 the Dems still pick up Colorado but Arizona stays red due to having a less terrible/damaged candidate than McSally and Trump not being at the top of the ticket. Georgia doesn't flip yet either, though is seen as a top Dem target for 2022.
House: GOP expands their majority in 2018 and whilst the Dems do make a decent number of gains in 2020 they fall short of retaking the chamber in part due to GOP incumbency advantages (similar to how the GOP narrowly fell short this year) as well as due to the suburbs being much less blue than in our timeline.

Note that this is the best the Democrats could've realistically done, it may well have been much, much worse. Clinton may well have lost re-election by a lot (it's hard for a party to hold the White House for more than 3 terms and Clinton is a pretty disliked political figure anyway, fairly or not) whilst 2018 could've been even more a bloodbath in the Senate with some/all of Baldwin, Stabenow, Menendez and Casey potentially losing too if the midterm became a 2010/2014 redux.

When parties are out of the WH for a longer period of time, they generally end up moderating not getting more extreme( see Eisenhower 1952, Bill Clinton 1992 and FDR campaigned as a moderate in 1932) I have no idea about supreme Court's but I'd democrats won with 50 seats( winning Wisc, Pa or Mo) then she'll be able to fill the seats and get cabinet appointments more easily in

On the contrary, the scenario implies that Trump got so close to winning despite his divisive campaign. There's a real possibility that the GOP would have seen that and realized that their platform as it is can win off the back of the three-term curse and more backlash against President Hillary.

We'd live in a liberal democratic utopia with universal healthcare and a $25 minimum wage after all registered Republicans tragically had the brakes go out on their cars while driving along a cliff.

For one, we'd be having concerts, conventions, and major sporting events in most of 2020 and early 2021.
