DeGrom is undoubtedly a superstar pitcher, but let's wait a few months to see how his numbers hold up.  There have been plenty of cases of early gaudy numbers for both pitchers and hitters that fade later in the season.  One that springs to mind is the year that John Smoltz started the season with an unearthly 14-1 record, but cooled off to 24-8 by season's end (still a very impressive record, and he did win the Cy Young).

I'd say what we've seen in April and May is better than deGrom in 2018, mostly due to his dramatic uptick in velocity, but we'll see what happens.

For the moment at least, he is indisputable the best pitcher in baseball.

Batting is broken right now. These pitchers are not superhuman.

On a recent Braves broadcast, Paul Byrd (a former pitcher) said that it felt to him like the seams were higher this year, which gives pitchers more control.

Betts is hitting 247 along with Anthony Davis since we don't have an NBA thread are underperforming after they signed 27M contracts

It will be the Clippers as LAs team once LeBron retires in the next yr or two

Betts making 27 M to hit 247

LeBron is broken down too, that's why he had an ankle injury

Unless you get a real good Afro American that can play ball, the Dodgers are clearly gonna have problems with Mookie Betts he can hit, we saw that in the Wrld Series last yr, but that was a shorten season where the Dodgers only played with their Home town teams, he did really well against Angels and Padres.  Now, that they have to play everyone, just like yesterday, the Dodgers struggle.

What happens when they have to play Cards in Playoffs

Along with Anthony Davis, they were worth 10M not 30M

I remember Anthony Davis wanted a mega free agent contract from every team, he has shown promise but again last yr was a shortened season, he is injury prone

When LeBron retires, Davis is gonna be a rebuild team not a title team

Something I never expected to be saying this season: the Hawks are a better basketball team than the Braves are a baseball team.

Of course Freeman is only hitting 232 role him and Betts and Anthony Davis are playing their multi millionaire flop roles very well but Freeman is making 10M while Davis and Betts are getting 30M

Paul George is a flop too, Clippers and Lakers are on verge of Eliminatipn

But, Rams are gonna win the Superbowl, Brady isn't gonna win an 8th ring, Rams are gonna duplicate the Bucks success, so Lakers or Clippers not winning will be made up

Even if Dodgers don't won, I can see Giants winning the Wrld Series or Padres

Maybe.  The Knicks are hardly a good way to judge.

Lakers flopped with Drummond and Kuzma, whom were supposed to take up the slack for Anthony Davis

What happened to KUZMA scoring 2 pts, we are now hoping Clippers can pull it out

Let's see if Dodgers don't fold

Yeah, the Mets are obviously doing better and it's a great 'journey' the teams going on but I don't expect them to do well in the play offs, though I'm confident that they can get there. Whereas in NL West the raw stats make the Cali teams look worse than they are.

It's only early June, but we might have a Triple Crown watch on our hands.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s .338 Batting Average, 18 Home Runs, and 47 RBI's all lead the American League.

Jacob DeGrom's thrown six more shutout innings so far tonight against the Padres.

I'm trying to figure out why he wasn't picked #1 overall in our Fantasy League.

How the ******* Hell do you end the first week in June with a 0.62 ERA? DeGrom's out of this world right now.

I was a bit surprised to see Cole go before him.

I picked Cole because the Mets offense is worse than the Yankees, so I thought that in a points league, Cole's higher floor for wins, would get me more points than DeGrom's superior ERA, given both would put up similar strikeout numbers. If I'd known how poorly the Yankees offense would start, I'd have taken DeGrom instead.

I would have taken DeGrom if Trout wasn't available.

My ESPN favorites list shows two ATL-PHI games tonight; one NBA, one MLB.  This isn't terribly uncommon (it almost happened with ATL-NY last week, but the Braves-Mets game was rained out that night).  What I'm wondering is: have the same two cities ever played in *three* major sports on the same day?
