Well, that was uneventful. I guess the only possible surprise here is Quarles maybe finishing ahead of Craft? Still a lot of vote left to count, so it could change, but that would be slightly surprising.

I think the general election is Lean D. Beshear is popular enough to be favored, but definitely can’t rule out a Cameron win. Cameron is a good candidate, too, and Kentucky being so red could carry him over the finish line.

Trump-endorsed Cameron easily wins with nearly 50% of the vote (and rising) while DeSantis-endorsed Craft fails and comes in 3rd.

Craft really flopped, wow. Though Cameron being such a well known statewide figure should not have even made this into a question.

Does anybody that follows Kentucky politics have an idea of who Cameron might pick as a running mate? I believe Kentucky gubernatorial candidates previously had to select their running mates prior to the primary, but it looks like it’s changed this cycle? Seems like candidates can wait to name their Lt. Gov running mate till after being nominated now.

I couldn’t even imagine spending millions of my own money to not even make it out of the primary.

If I had millions of dollars of disposable money, there are many many things I would prefer to blow it on rather than running for office. Smiley

Do Democrats have a chance to win any other statewide officers other than Governor?

Nope. Even Beshear will be lucky to win. There was one poll with him leading Cameron by 9 points, but he was at 49, and what's more, the primary hadn't occurred yet, so the red team hadn't consolidated yet. I expect the race to massively tighten.

Just got around to looking at the primary results and all I'll say is that Kelly Craft is an early contender for the RRH Turkey of the Year award. What a ridiculous footnote in history her campaign is going to be.

in the interest of balanced coverage, im going to put this old news here. unfortunately elon musk locked twitter so i cant see what (if anything) comrade geoff has said about this and have no choice but to write his response myself:

Quote from: the gospel according to geoff young
Criminal-in-Chief Andy Beshear (D-Lying, Genocidal, Fascist War Criminal) caught FUNNELING hundreds of thousands of dollars from D mayor. KDP machine--same cronies that rigged two primaries against me--corrupted by their big money donor criminal overlords. No one can support this crook who killed thousands of kids with his lies about the jab and now is trying to steal yet another election with dirty tricks. He will be destroyed in the general election and then come crying home to his daddy asking how could this have happened? Ds lost their one chance to win after they cheated me out of the primary illegally!

FBI investigates Democrat mayor's massive illegal donation to Beshear campaign

This is probably the first election in a long time where the majority of voters like both candidates.
