"What is Aleppo".

Johnson would get humiliated on a debate stage.

I just can’t get over how this was supposedly a campaign ender with all of the $h*t Trump said. Are we to assume that Trump just wasn’t treated as a serious candidate despite being the nominee of a major party while a ticket of two former governors on a third party ticket is somehow killable by one single flub?

Trump shouldn't have been considered a serious candidate either, but at least he seemed to understand what/where Aleppo is.

The Aleppo gaffe costed Johnson some votes and denied him entering the debates.

Two options:
1. Johnson humiliates himself, and Clinton benefits from the collapse in the third party vote

2. Johnson overperforms, due to a shift in perceptions. The increase in third party vote throws the election out of whack, and alters the outcome in close states. Example:

I think that Johnson's appearance could feasibly benefit either candidate, both of these are just random hypotheticals. I really don't think Johnson can win an electoral vote in 2016, but he could definitely flip a few states between the Dems and GOP

Another interesting event possibly occurring in this universe: three-way Vice Presidential debates! Weld- Kaine-Pence! That'd be an interesting dynamic.
