A sort of sequel to this.

Anyway HUGE Freedom Fighters! Definitely brave heroes for stepping out like that, but what they did has paid off massively!

Somewhat politically useful compared to them not being there

I wish all of the states were swing states.  Politics would be a lot more fun (not to mention practical and reasonable).

Freedom Fighters if they moved away from places like TN, SC, AL, MS, or other safe states.

Neutral if they moved away from WI, MI, OH, PA, or other current or former swing state.

I doubt anyone would move just to flip a state on the national level. Mostly other reasons why they move.

Besides, within 10 years Georgia will be safe Democratic, so than they'd to move again if it was purely for that reason.

This, but I can't say I'm fond of these types of people themselves. The impression that I get is that they're mostly "new economy" people to whom life has been fairly kind.

Neutral—merely being "liberal" (as opposed to being "conservative") doesn't mean much for me and Georgia has always been among the upper-tier Southern states regardless of the voting habits of its residents

Actually the first people who came to mind for me are African Americans moving from Northern inner cities and the Rust Belt to make a better life for themselves and their families.

I wasn't familiar with that phenomenon but I looked it up and you're absolutely right. Those people are FFs, of course.

Many other southern states losing black population. Atlanta is a hub, just as it was in the '60s with MLK's church and movement.

That makes them good people, rather than being resentful and consumed by petty jealousy.

Potential pro-NATO bloc and a bulwark against Russian aggression, but also potentially divisive given the region's social conservatism.

If you think the only people who are resentful and consumed by petty jealousy are people who have good reasons to be, then maybe Marin County is a chill-vibes hippie utopia.

I mean, I suppose it's politically convenient in 2020 that they did, but back in 2016, I don't think Democrats would've had a favorable opinion of someone who moved from Pennsylvania or Wisconsin to Georgia...
