I am very disappointed that really hard hitting questions like foreign policy or children identifying outside their birth gender were not asked, I cannot really see who’s an objectivist or closet social authoritarian.

Can't wait to see how the QAnon freaks spin this one!

RFK Junior is a certified loony. Adding on predator makes sense.

His past behavior, which to his credit he has addressed openly, frequently, and has owned up too, seems to suggest that there is room for more weirdness in the sexual arena than we know of. I say that as someone who for the most part actually likes RFK Jr.

Anyone catch the Libertarian debate on Saturday? How'd that go
Libertarians do have a solid lineup this election but Joshua Smith excels at being charismatic.

They're gonna pick a quixotic ideologue instead of sending the figure with the most mainstream appeal and name recognition into this election's third party and independent field of stars, aren't they. Facepalm city.

Chase Oliver is both too moderate and too boring for my liking, which definitely isn’t beneficial given how much the party has changed

Personally I felt that they all were pretty professional on stage, but I did chuckle when Hornberger started passing out envelopes. Rectenwald and the guy with the pony tail had the least presence on stage. Mike Ter Maat seems mid.

Although with how old Hornberger looks now compared to just three years ago, this may have a slight bias against him.

Oh, I don't know anything about Chase Oliver, which means he's definitely lacking in crossover name recognition or star power. It's more of Smith embracing the repeal the 19th Amendment / abolish the Civil Rights Act stuff. Yeah, real vote winners, that sort of ideologically zealous platform.

Based on the response to my thread, I think Lars Mapstead being the token wealthy businessman candidate is intriguing, especially for the capacity to use his wealth to self-fund his campaign. That and the Penn Jillette look hearkens to a past type of libertarian.

Lars Mapstead does have serious public speaking issues and comes across as just “there” compared to the other personalities in the room. The thing is that it’s going to be hard for him to win what with delegates associated with those that voted for Jo Jorgensen now lesser in number.

I have to say, compared to the 2020 primaries for the Libertarians and really all other US parties, it feels like there’s going to be less insane shenanigans this time and that it will continue till the end of this cycle. I think a significant amount of the energy that people in the libertarian camp can give is pretty low compared to then. Back then people used primaries to settle old scores and were reflective of how divisive and chaotic the 2010s ended. Such conflicts for third party candidates, and really much of the activist organizations, peaked in either 2020 or 2021. Now people either don’t have the energy, or a lot of the people causing such conflict left entirely or were forced out. Examples include the whole drama the Greens have been through from 2018-2022 (Stein‘24 as an end to the end), the conventional elder progressive movement within the Democratic party from 2015-2020, Libertarians from Gary Johnson-2022, and the MAGA movement within the Republican party still raging.

Of course in more cohesive organizations, expulsions and dismissals using procedural nonsense are more common like what went down in the DSA and is happening now with Williamson and Phillips off the Democratic ballot and persona non grata to the institution.

They were sad because she didn't have a campaign chair who was a Russian lobbyist.

Tell me more…

What’s possibly a preliminary list for California has just been released. The rules for being there are as follows
Quote
The candidates are selected by the Secretary of State (SOS) based on her observations of their activities, OR by following: “has a current presidential campaign internet website or webpage hosted by the candidate or a qualified political party, and a written request submitted on the candidate’s behalf by a party qualified to participate in the primary election to the Secretary of State requesting the candidate be placed on the presidential primary ballot”
Also: “On or before November 28, 2023 (E-98), a candidate shall file with the Secretary of State a form of ‘Proof of Generally Advocated for or Recognized Candidate’ and attach supporting documentation.”
Other candidates may qualify by Dec. 15 by submitting “signatures from voters who have selected a preference with the
party whose nomination is sought equal in number to not less than 1% of the number of persons who have selected a preference with their respective party in the 154-Day Report of Registration issued by the Secretary of State.”

Per insiders, the Mises Caucus is going for Rectenwald

Been known ever since Dave Smith said he wasn't running. Question is how many of their people that will be delegates are blindly supporting the caucus here as Rectenwald is not the most charismatic guy and was a non-entity to these people before his presidential campaign.

So the SPUSA's candidate Stodden has at least been semi-regularly posting videos on YouTube.

Natually, I'm not sure who I'm voting for in 2024 - won't possibly know until I know what candidates have certified write-in access or ballot access here in Indiana - so I'm keeping up with any candidate of interest.

Thought this was worth sharing, though, as Stodden was a soldier, and I think it's good to hear from the perspective of a socialist soldier, as many on the right (and I suspect plenty of Democrats) don't often consider that point-of-view.

Certainly hope that Stodden gets as much ballot access as possible, and is able to effectively get his message out there.

Apparently the list for California is final according to a comment by Richard Winger. That means that RFK Jr and the Libertarian party nominee will not be on the ballot in 2024. This seriously damages the prospects of either candidate and is most likely going to get a lawsuit filed against such a case.

Interesting. Is Jill Stein and Cornel West also not on it?

Libertarians ignore all the primaries because they don't limit voters to party members. The guy on the ballot in California is nothing.

Cornel West is on the ballot...in Alaska, courtesy of the Alaska-only Aurora Party. Per Ballot Access News.

Looks like James Bradley, a Republican going for the Senate in California, will soon drop out to go for President as an Independent with the support of the California American Independent Party.

West threatens to peel off Arab American voters in Michigan

Quote
The independent candidate campaigned in Michigan this week to offer Arab American voters angry over the Israel-Hamas conflict a new political home in 2024. In Dearborn, a majority Arab American suburb of Detroit, West hosted several roundtable meetings with donors, local political organizers and Muslim community leaders, who wanted to hear West’s positions on Gaza

I'm asking how many voters Cornell West will receive in November 2024 ?

Depends on where he manages to get on the ballot. His campaign does not appear to be taking ballot access particularly seriously, as far as I can tell.

The real question is whether Jill Stein or not will get those votes, not West Tongue

At this point, West should drop out and run for VP with Stein. It'd make more sense than what he's doing now.

VP selection tickets really are just shipping for political nerds.

Joshua Smith won’t be on the Massachusetts primary ballot

Only Lars Mapstead will be on the New Mexico primary ballot

What list? According to ballotpedia, the deadline isn't until August 9th next year.

The list of candidates on the primary ballot for CA's various parties is what he's referring to. The best (only realistic way) for RFK Jr to get on the ballot in CA would be to win the nomination of a ballot access party in CA like the American Independent Party. The fact that he's not striving for that means he'll need to work to get nearly 220k signatures, which is WAY more work and way more money than winning the AIP's nomination.
