They shouldn't.  I think Trump should be pardoned and forgotten about.  Nothing says unity less than charging a former political opponent,  even if he does deserve it.

This is equivalent to saying a President can get away with any crimes without penalty.  Surely that's not what you want, is it?

It reminds me of the bad faith metaphor Republicans who voted against trump's second impeachment used as a call for "unity," that impeaching the President would be pouring gasoline on a fire. Really though, consequences like impeachment, indictment, and conviction is catching a serial arsonist so that more fires don't start.
