So how long until Trump gets indicted? I figured they'd have it filed the second he was out of office.

Who? Merrick Garland hasn't even been officially nominated much less confirmed yet. Wait for him to take office at least.

Right around the same time as the mass arrests of the satanic pedophile cabal.

(I know the two aren't comparable, but I'm assuaging my desire to in-your-face Republicans by in-your-facing QAnoners.)

For the record the acting Attorney General is still a Republican. Rosen resigned at noon today but that put John Demers as acting AG. He likely will be for only a few hours until Biden issues an Executive Order appointing an acting AG until Garland is confirmed (expected to be Monty Wilkinson.)

They shouldn't.  I think Trump should be pardoned and forgotten about.  Nothing says unity less than charging a former political opponent,  even if he does deserve it.

This is equivalent to saying a President can get away with any crimes without penalty.  Surely that's not what you want, is it?

Btw, as Andrew Weissman has pointed out, Roger Stone and especially Paul Manafort could potentially still get indicted all over again due to sloppy wording in their pardons.

It reminds me of the bad faith metaphor Republicans who voted against trump's second impeachment used as a call for "unity," that impeaching the President would be pouring gasoline on a fire. Really though, consequences like impeachment, indictment, and conviction is catching a serial arsonist so that more fires don't start.

Trump will never allow himself to be forgotten about. He will be in our face 24/7 if we allow it and that is unacceptable. He needs to be held accountable and his looney followers need to understand that Trump lied to them. Sometimes people need "tough love" not coddling. They will get over it.

Biden won't prosecute Trump.
Prosecuting Trump would be an embarrassment.

Unlike dirtbag Trump, Biden isn't going to try to direct who is or is not prosecuted.

Prosecuting a clear criminal (and traitor) like Trump would not be an embarrassment at all.  Failing to would be an embarrassment.

It sounds like the investigations in NY are ongoing.  Plus I'm sure they don't want to steal Biden's thunder right now.  If he is prosecuted I would expect indictments of lower people in the chain to start in a matter of months.

I remember thinking that the Bush administration was going to pay once Obama became President.

People still unironically think Trump will be prosecuted for anything? How do they still not understand that the U.S. judicial system works for billionaires rather than against them?

While true, Trump isn't really a member of the billionaires club anymore. And who knows how much money he has left to burn through at this point.

If you still seriously think after all of this that Cy Vance is gonna pass up the chance to prosecute the biggest case ever, then you're sorely f**king mistaken.

Like Brexit, the transition itself is anticlimactic, but the consequences will probably become a slow burn.
