As a fellow Texan and American I wish the best for his greiving family.
As for the resulting special election, I have doubts it will be hyper-competitive. Given the Biden performance in the district, I agree it is competitive but it's not really a clearly huge flip opportunity. The Republicans should be clearly favored here.
In nearby TX-24, Biden won by 52-47 but the GOP candidate (in an open seat, no less) won 49-47.  And this was in a district Biden won by 5. TX-06 voted Trump by 3.
