Illinois Sen. Barack Obama loses to Republican John McCain in 2008. After a horrendous 2010 midterm elections, and a slumping economy heading into 2012, President McCain retires and Vice President Sarah Palin beats Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum to win the 2012 Republican nomination.

Tennessee Sen. Harold Ford Jr. wins the 2012 Democratic nomination by defeating New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in a bitter brawl.

Who wins?

This assumes Ford won in 2006 right?

If McCain’s presidency is seen as successful, Ford loses.

It would be a 1980 style landslide if McCain and Palin didn’t fix economy. Dem nominee doesn’t even matter, the Rs would’ve screwed up so bad and had serious party fatigue after three terms
