I pray he wins because I think he’s the perfect guy to be president. However, the 2024 race would go one of two ways.

If Trump runs again it will probably be a race between Trump, Cruz, and Romney. Sound familiar? (Replace Romney with Kasich and you basically have a repeat 2016).

If Trump doesn’t run again, it will probably be a race between Nikki Haley and either Cruz or Hawley. Pence’s support may go to either Cruz, Hawley or Haley.

In the end if Trump runs he has to get a majority of the delegates or else the Republican Party will most likely give it to someone else seeing as how he lost in 2020. In the other scenario where Trump doesn’t run, I think Cruz gets the would be DeSantis voters.

Ron DeSantis is basically a more polished Ted Cruz anyways. More likable and charismatic, plus more conservative and hardline on immigration. I guess the DeSantis voters would go for the diet version of Ron DeSantis (Ted Cruz)

If he wins his re election he might be our next president.

I think he’s the only Republican that can beat Joe Biden.

Honestly, I think so too. Pence is just too conventional and wouldn't know how to run a dynamic winning campaign. DeSantis also knows how to counteract the increasingly powerful arm of the Democratic Party - mainstream media and big tech - on both their framing and focus of issues. It's a skill that will be needed if any Republican wants to win the presidency going forward. Also, just being a somewhat competent governor of the third-largest state that is diverse and growing is a huge asset.

He isn't going to lose, he is going to win in high single digits. Safe R for DeSantis in 2022.

Would not be surprised if it was like a 15 point win

No. I think it'll be more like Rubio's map because partisan polarization,

Maybe. I just saw Rubio's margin in Dade and in an R wave year, I would not be surprised to see it flipped, while Duval stays Democratic.

I would also be surprised if DeSantis wins Hillsborough although it is not out of question.

Disagree. Florida elections don’t really correlate with national results, and even if 2022 is good for Democrats that doesn’t mean the GOP can’t come back in 2024. DeSantis isn’t the only candidate that can win.

2 years is a very long time in politics and Biden might not run again.

I think the idea is that if Democrats can start winning in Florida again - particularly beating an incumbent during what should be a pro-Republican midterm - then Florida is clearly swinging back to the Democrats.

JFC.  I wish the US could just saw off the southern border of Georgia and let Florida float away.

There is no politician I can think of that has the kind of support needed to beat Ron DeSantis in FL right now.  Not a one.

What are your thoughts on a potential Ivanka vs. Rubio primary?
