The FOP is so corrupt, as a side note.

I'm hesitant to call swing state races safe, but when was the last time a party gave up on a statewide candidate and that candidate won?

Mastriano is running a garbage campaign even for a MAGA candidate.  Not only does he have no money, doesn't really do any real rallies, have no big state backers, but he really doesn't even attempt to pivot at all to the middle to sway any voters.

He's pretty much doing every function a candidate can do wrong.   If he wins, campaigns in PA officially have no purpose anymore.

A big difference is that Ron Johnson himself was actually trying to win - his campaign had a clear presence. Late public polling also indicated that a victory was clearly possible (GOLD STANDARD Marquette had Feingold +1 in their last poll).

Is that the second or third consecutive PA gubernatorial race the National GOP surrenders on? 2014 and 2018 were equally lost causes from early on. Just this time around the race may have been winnable if they didn't nominate a horrible candidate.

It's possible, but Shapiro is probably the best candidate that either side could've put up. But I think this definitely would've been more of a race if someone like Barletta was the nominee. Though fundraising still probably would've been an issue.

Yeah this is somewhat of a nail in the coffin. If Shapiro’s garnering the predominantly Irish/Italian Frank Rizzo-reincarnated PPD cops then he likely retains his 2016/2020 amongst NEPA’s law-and-order minded ravioli/periogie enjoyers. Furthermore, the FOP endorsement implies the Wilkes-Barre Trump rally failed to give Mast credibility amongst the aforementioned bronzites who gatekeep his quest for the governor’s mansion. Lean D.

What keeps coming out about Mastriano keeps getting worse. What an absolute trainwreck this guy is.

"I've seen enough"... to move this race to Safe D in my predictions. When you lose the police unions as a Republican and your own party leaves you for dead, swing state or not, it's basically impossible to rebound.

I'm almost tempted to go to one of Mastriano's rallies just to see how much of a Qanon-fueled cult meeting it is.

I just don't know that I have enough of a poker face to pull off hiding my internal revulsion for the entire time I am there.

Now I just have this very funny mental image of a crowd shot where everybody is smiling except for ONE guy scowling hard with pure disgust.

This is comical at this point. I can't imagine the majority of voters in PA are stupid enough to vote for that guy.

Mastriano raised $3.2M in the same time frame as Shapiro's $25.4M.

$1M of that $3.2M was from one conservative rich couple in Chicago

Okay, I'm sorry, this is borderline SAFE-D at this point. We've had like one to five scandals for Mastriano every day for weeks, and he doesn't seem to have any will or capacity to turn around outside of holding rallies attended by 25 people. RoJo at least worked hard to close the gap, Mastriano isn't.

To think this guy was one of the major GOP candidates I feared winning the most this year!

Now that's kind of transferred to Kari Lake...

Republicans nominate people like this and then pearl clutch when some Democrats start questioning whether it's 'morally questionable' to vote GOP.

Y'all did this to yourselves.

I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but I could not be more excited for Governor Shapiro. As great as Wolf has been, Shapiro will be better.
