I didn't understand Woodrow Wilson in the list. He created the Federal Reserve, he introduced the income tax, he supported the female suffrage amendment, he supported the League of Nations.

Was a blatant and unrepentant racist. But not worse than Reagan

HACK HACK HACK HACK HACK

"Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing on television as I did,” Reagan said. “Yeah,” Nixon interjected. Reagan forged ahead with his complaint: “To see those, those monkeys from those African countries—damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!”

Making one racist comment is nowhere near inviting the KKK to the White House and segregating all federal agencies.

Yeah, I'm sure he only ever made one racist comment. And let's ignore all the racism that informed his policy decisions.

I swear this whole country was huffing lead in the '80s.

The racism that informed his policy decisions?

Like granting amnesty to over a million illegal immigrants?

Like making MLK day a national holiday?

Like giving reparations to Japanese Americans who were held under FDR (who I’m sure you adore)?

The racism that put millions of black men in prisons for nonviolent crimes.

The racism that unfairly maligned black moms on food stamps as "welfare queens".

The racism that led him to veto the Civil Rights Restoration Act.

The racism that made him a leading voice against the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act.

The racism that inspired him to campaign on the idea that undeserving blacks were taking jobs from hard working whites.

I'm glad Reagan dead.

What a load of lies.

Anyways, no way he could be any worse than KK( Wilson

Not the part where you says he’s as bad as Wilson, who was a literal supporter of the KK(.

Trump is by far the most controversial but unlikely one of the worse. There are plenty of presidents who did next to nothing or just sucked.

Andrew Johnson
James Buchanan
Franklin Pierce
John Tyler
Chester Arthur

In chronological order, Jackson, Andrew Johnson, Wilson, & Trump are probably the worst 4. #5's a jump shot, there's so many eligible contenders.

BRTD has a point of view that has some merit. For example, I agree that Jefferson was a mess and a headcase. More interesting are the problematic POTUS's, such as Nixon and LBJ. Their rank may change as time goes on. Trump however has a pretty secure place in the chamber of horrors. Which is why our land is  susceptible to great evil, just like any place else. American exceptionalism is a massive myth. That is my opinion. We just had the most productive and largest bit of real estate on the planet, and a civil culture that made it different a somewhat from those cultures that had less of one, like the Spanish diaspora. But it is still fragile, and will wither without nurturing, despite its blessings of nature and inheritance of cultural institutions governance and ideals - at least on paper if not always in reality.

I think Lyndon Johnson was a case of “bad guy, good President”.

Pre-rebellion, Trump had a chance to viewed as a middling President in a few decades, but his actions pretty much ensured he'd be viewed as the worst President ever by any serious historian.

Don't put Jackson and Grant in the same boat. Jackson sold slaves for a living and Grant only owned slaves for a brief period of time.

I guess would say Jefferson, Jackson, Cleveland, Trump and maybe either JFK or Clinton but not sure which.

I would certainly regard Wilson as a terrible President and would have probably been on this list prior to Trump.

He married his dead wife's niece who was much younger than him, as he probably forced her to do. He also was extremely Anti-Native American, much more than any other president (apart from Jackson)

I'm guessing that this is just a gag, right? Because while Reagan was indeed terrible, there were still Presidents who were just objectively even worse at being - well - human beings than he was.

It also seems to be subject to recency bias.
