I'm a Democrat, of course it's a bad thing (to be fair, Bob Dold wouldn't be as bad as other Democrats are claiming, but it would still not be good.)

That would be the end of an era. The guy has been in office since 1983 for all but two years when Republicans had a majority. Hopefully he's out soon.

The corruption is obviously something that Illinois could do without, but I do hope his successor follows his lead by not playing nice with redistricting.

Aside from that, this also marks the end of the career of one of the last old-fashioned white ethnic machine politicians.

The Vast Majority of house Democrats including the minority ones still supported Madigan. Sadly for Madigan, white women from the suburbs have their own source of funding
