Would Edwards have a chance?

Under OTL conditions with an improving economy? I'd say so, if Edwards was able to make it this far it's because i'm guessing he successfully suppressed the Rielle Hunter scandal. He'd also receive a definite sympathy boost as a recent widower. I could see him running the same sort of populist campaign that Obama did. I'd say the electoral map is probably identical with the sole exception of Edwards flipping his home state.

I'm not too sure. Edwards could've easily went to prison in real life don't forget.

I think Romney would successfully hit him in the debates and the election isn't too close with Romney winning over 300 electoral votes (Bush 04 states+PA, NH, ME-02)

Mitt Romney: 317 electoral votes
President Edwards: 221 electoral votes

Depends, if the scandal happens or not. Assuming if he made it this far, then it probably didn't(or at least not yet), happen. If it truly didn't.....

President John Edwards (D-NC) / Vice President Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) ✓
Fmr. Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) / Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI)

If Edwards is still President in 2012, then he's avoided scandal.

I'd imagine he would win his home state of NC.

I imagine the Rielle Hunter scandal came out some time after Edwards was sworn in?

Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan 48%
John Edwards/Barack Obama 46%

There's no way Edwards doesn't get impeached if the Rielle Hunter scandal happened IMO so the scandal probably just didn't happen ITTL, map is just 2012+NC
