In all seriousness, does this have any potential effect on the future direction of the GOP? Do they start backing away from Trumpism? Did a guy like Sasse’s stock rise today while Hawley’s fell?

I mean Hawley might be in jail so I don’t think he has a bright future

There's no point in resigning now.  If Trump isn't going to be removed in the next two weeks, it would be best for those who are horrified by this to stay on and prevent him from doing something impulsive.

I just keep thinking how the midterms and 2024 will look for the GOP after today.

Don't expect a Democratic landslide. Much of the Republican base approves of what happened today, and we saw how 2020 turned out. But I think that the Democrats, if they turnout at high rates like they did last year and for the Georgia runoffs, stand a good chance of holding their ground and overcoming the Republicans in the next two election cycles.

Has this "senior advisor" resigned yet? Otherwise I don't care what they have to say.

Chief of Staff to the First Lady has resigned.

I first read this as "Chief of Staff and the First Lady have resigned" and my thought was "yeah, sounds about right."

The First Lady probably wishes she could resign.

I don’t like you, Donald Trump
Or your gang of fascist f#%ks
You spat on my grandpa’s grave

I don’t like you, Donald Trump
Your little coup was doomed to fail
What did you hope to get, you knave?

I don’t like you, Donald Trump
You were born on third base
Yet you’ve been a loser all your life

I don’t like you, Donald Trump
Please tell me, now, if you don’t mind
How much for your mail-order wife?

For the 10th time today, "Hell if anyone knows".

It's like asking what the 2002 midterms are gonna look like on 9/11. There's bigger news going on than to worry about electoral prospects (Even on an election-centric forum)

Duckworth's naming of Reddit shows her very deep lack of understanding of the internet. r/the_donald was banned around a year ago. All the conspiracies are on /pol/ on 4chan.

All these cowards resigning today: Principled stand, or were they holding out hope that Trump might cheat his way into a second term?

I didn't see your post earlier, and I'm not making an in-depth electoral projection. I'm just stating that Democrats, by remaining energized, stand a good chance of holding their position in the future.

Basically my thoughts are in states where Republicans are reliant on suburban support like Az, GA, and TX this won't go too well for them, but in like WI and IA they rely on rural, so this'll have little impact there

I’ve been a RINO for awhile but this was the end of that. I cannot support a party with rats who try to destroy western liberal democracy.
