I won't be watching this saga, it will be interesting if the daytime soaps will cut airtime for the Impeachment trial

While the impeachment team should definitely cite the testimony of these rioting Trumpsters here as evidence of incitement to insurrection, the prosecution should not let them get away with saying that Trump made them do it:

They rioted at the Capitol for Trump. Now, many of those arrested say it’s his fault.

Did Trump tweet this under the belief that Pence was dead, given Tuberville's phrasing? "They just took the Vice President out."

And then Trump's tweet: "Mike Pence didn't have..."

That is not a viable defense, obviously. Charles Manson "made" his cult followers kill, and they all went behind bars.

I disagree with this analysis, at least in part. Any quick skim of the right-wing internet shows that plenty of the people leaving are Trump people re-registering as independents out of disgust over congressional Republicans refusing to overturn the election.

The fact the Republicans are not going to vote for impeachment is a scandal.

More Tea Party lunatics wanted to impeach Obama for being black, then want to impeach Trump for inciting a insurrection.

Figuring that this is not the usual street hoodlum... how can anyone who has so much going for him be so cruel, so violent, and so disrespectful of law enforcement?

Not only that, but afterwards the officer and his family can file a personal case for (lifelong) monetary damages (pain/suffering/loss of eyesight/etc).
This scumbag, and indirectly his family (if he has any) will suffer greatly.

PS: They will get him. That frontal image is way too good for him to escape justice. His extended family, neighbors, friends, co-workers ... one of them will give away his identity to law enforcement.

Trump has privately voiced concern about being charged related to January 6 riot

Quote
Former President Donald Trump has privately voiced concern in the last two weeks about whether he could face charges as a result of the January 6 riot he's accused of inciting, according to multiple people.

Trump has mainly been quiet since leaving the White House last month, and his silence has been in part related to those concerns.

"He's worried about it," one adviser close to Trump told CNN.

In his speech explaining his acquittal vote Saturday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell strongly implied the legal process should address Trump's role in the riot, which he said the former President was "practically and morally responsible" for. Rep. Liz Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican who has faced backlash for her vote to impeach, has said similar.

That's not Trump's only concern. He is also facing potential criminal charges in New York and Georgia, related to his businesses and to his attempt to pressure Georgia SoS Raffensperger. My hope is that Trump gets charged in a court of law and receives due justice for at least one of his offenses. Let the legal processes do what the Senate could not.

I don't think Trump faces much criminal exposure for the riot, absent additional evidence. Thus it is imperative that all relevant evidence that is out there be found.

Possibly not, but I've seen some suggestions that he faces exposure to civil suits from the rioters and especially from the defenders who were injured.

140000 split among half the states is really not much at all. Double that for simple math, but then compare it to the 74 million who voted for Trump.

The Republican party is still overwhelmingly proudly trumpist.

He'll either be convicted, or the Republican nominee for congress wherever he lives.

And if it's a suitably red District like Georgia 14, he'll be elected. After all, better a cop eye gouging Capitol storming conspiracy theory espousing far right Trumpist than (gasp!) a Democrat!

Yes, the bar is far lower as to the level of certainty (50.00001% (more likely than not), rather than 98% certain (beyond a reasonable doubt), but you still have the First Amendment issue, as interpreted by SCOTUS, based on specific fact patterns to boot, which is the real hurdle here.
