Interesting article about who the rioters are. Most of them have no known ties to any sort of extremist groups. A lot are professionals or small business owners, and very few were unemployed at the time, though I'm sure a lot more are now. And the majority were from urban or suburban counties. And based on that, I would assume the majority probably went to college.

AKA anything but the stereotypical racist hick Trump supporter. I honestly wonder what it is about Trump that draws people like this to him. I have never seen this degree of cultish behavior towards any other American politician.

This is an interesting psychological case but on a macro scale.
I think we will see researchers long into the future studying this phenomenon and how it became so powerful.
What I wonder is whether they had a propensity to fall for this type of cult (like how some people have addictive personalities/tendencies) and what common denominators can be found.

This is honestly the exact type I expected. The “racist hicks” are quite frankly too poor to try to stage a coup and lack the privilege to have such Gaul. I assumed it was mostly middle class white people with too much time on their hands so they let they’re brains get turned to goo by binging conspiracies. Anecdotally the staunches trump supporters I know are surgeons, or other post-graduates types.

This isn't really surprising at all when you think about the money and time required to travel to the rally, and how few Americans are fine just throwing away that kind of money and who also have the spare vacation time to take off of work to do so. For these reasons, the demographics of the Jan. 6 riots were likely not very representative of your average trumper.

Wonderful to see, and inspiring. However, any happiness here is marred by two points of, not cynicism, but Blount realism.

First, this poor woman and her family are probably going to be subjected to numerous death threats over the coming weeks. All because she publicly announced that she no longer believed in lunatic conspiracy theories.

Secondly, for every one woman like this who can get a clue there are probably about fifty other qanon believers who will never change anytime in the foreseeable future , if ever.
